Length: 115 hours

      Start: February 2009

      Finish: 2009

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

The boom in exhibition structures and the increasing number of trade fairs in previously little-known marketing and cultural sectors helps explain the growing interest in the figure of Exhibit Designer. This professional should be able to design assembly projects for trade fairs, exhibitions and congresses – events that pay close attention to light and colour and the key factors of materials, technologies, time and cost.

      Programme

The course aims to equip participants with all the necessary tools to design, coordinate and oversee production of a project to assemble a temporary exhibit. It will analyse the intense process that starts with the basic idea and concludes with the opening event, taking in the executive project, pre-production and assembly in between. The idea is to spark creativity and work from a conceptual and abstract perspective. This will be backed up by solid theoretical and practical training by means of useful exercises carried out by students individually. Different professionals specialising in specific stages in the process will give classes throughout the course.

      Target

The course is aimed at designers interested in increasing their knowledge of exhibition spaces through training to design and represent the space. It is also aimed at any professionals who need to specialise in this area to effectively take on the challenge of an increasingly competitive and ever-changing sector.

      Length: 180 hours

      Start: January 19, 2009

Finish: June 2009

Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

Furniture is one of the country’s major industries, and the fields of domestic furniture and furniture for organisations are both increasingly in need of specialists to provide design and technology solutions.

      Programme

The course aims to lay the foundations for professional practice centred on furniture design by teaching the day-to-day skills professional designers need through the experience of specialist teachers. Current professional practice is at the heart of the course.

The course is structured in two 90-hour modules; one on household furniture and the other on furniture for organisations and public spaces. Both modules comprise a project with the corresponding briefing, deadlines and deliveries. Participants learn from the experience of a completed project, since the application of theory and imagination is taught through a real-life example.

All this is accompanied by trips to a company or professional in the furniture industry to offer participants a closer look at the business situation in this country in a constantly evolving, adapting and growing industry.

      Target

The course is aimed at people in the world of design, students and teachers with an interest in the world of furniture, wood and industrial spinoffs who see furniture as a basic part of everyday life in domestic situations, in the street or in medium and large stores.

      Length: 100 hours

      Start: February 2009

      Finish: June 2009

Mondays and Wednesdays from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

Feeling, understanding and expressing light through its interaction with us and the objects around us. Light is the most malleable material for creating visual, stylistic images – a material no event can dispense with it. This course offers an in-depth study of its expressive characteristics. With the explosion in new technologies and their ever-increasing use, the lighting designer – a fairly recent player on the stage – is now a key figure in the design of any space.

      Programme

The course aims to give an overall vision of the art of lighting and to analyse the mechanisms used to articulate it and its related functions from a technical and stylistic point of view. The programme covers the subject of light and design from an intuitive, experimental and aesthetic perspective and tackles technical questions relating to creating feasible lighting solutions.

Based on the culture of light and lighting for events, we analyse the sources and different kinds of lighting and combine theoretical lighting concepts with different in situ experiences with trips to companies, museums and theatres, which make up the different pieces of work to be carried out over the course of the year.

We equip students with the tools to carry out lighting projects in a wide variety of different spaces, including interior, exterior, façades, one-off architectural pieces, public and commercial spaces, exhibitions and museums, amongst others.

      Target

The course is aimed at design students and professionals and anyone else interested in lighting, not only in terms of its technical, functional or aesthetic side, but also its creative facet – a key component in the design of any project
