Actiu, Santa & Cole, Hostal Empúries and La Vinyeta companies present their business models next May 8th and 10h at IED Barcelona. Two talks dedicated to eliminating old clichés about the feasibility of sustainable business and products to reinforce the value and positioning of new innovative business models combined with excellence: design, sustainability and business.

The first Design Business Conference 2011 in Barcelona
The next November 17, 18 and 19 take place the Design Business Conference 2011 in connection with the opennig of the new IED Barcelona, Escola Superior de Disseny location. The event, organized by the IED and The Grameen Creative Lab, aims to develop the next generation of business innovators and designer entrepreneurs who can act as agents of change in the organizations they join and the new ventures they establish.
During three days, more than eighty international professionals from management and design schools, leading practitioners in design and management as well as entrepreneurs from social business, discuss different aspects of business design as the design thinking, the processes and models of designing business, its educational settings or the managing designing.
The workshop be led by the IED Advisory Board formed by the sociologistDerrick de Kerckhove, connected intelligence expert, Richard Buchanan, designer and theorist of international renown, Ken Friedman, renowned artist and expert in science philosophy and design education, Francisco Jarauta, IED España scientific director and Muhammad Yunus, creator of microcredit and Nobel Peace Prize 2006.
The conference will culminate in an open public debate the 19th at 11.30hwith the renowed advisory board.

Workshop IED Kids at Casa Decor 20100
IED Barcelona organizes at Casadecor IED Kids in collaboration with the design studio ¿Qué es A?. The main objective is to offer workshops that will bring children between 6 and 12 years old into the world of design through questions such as Explain us the house of your dreams? and How would you paint your room? During the workshops, that will take place every Saturdays from November 13th to December 4th from 11.30 to 14.00, children will be recorded with their parents or grandparents explaining how they would like the house of their dreams. After explaining this, they will be able to draw a picture of their house or furniture designed through pictures (storyboards) or bi dimensional models. During all Casa Decor exhibition will be possible to watch a video with the work in progress done by the kids.

The workshop ‘Interactions’, is been organized by Venice IUAV in collaboration with IED Barcelona, is part of the educational program of the Biennale di Venezia and attempts to provide a space for meetings and interaction. The visits to the exhibition will play a fundamental role in the development of the project: the starting point will be the pavilions, which will be interpreted and re devised.

Workshop in Visual Arts: 3, 2, 1 Shoot me!“StopMotion”
Create your own animated movie through StopMotion. We will show you how to get a good audiovisual product, with just few tools and a lot of fantasy. You will be able to give life to your favourite pictures, objects… whatever you want!
The workshop is held by Mary Glez-video designer- partner in the company “Perverse Fantasy”, with seats in Milan and in Barcelona.

Though this practical exercise we pretend to demonstrate how creativity, hand working and different materials (some of them eatable!) permit to give shape and colour to some wonderful ephemeral jewels.
The workshop is held by Pilar Pasamontes, vice president of MODAFAD, historian of fashion. She collaborates with different TV programmes (TV3) and fashion magazines (Marie Claire) and she is a teacher of IED Barcelona.
