School of Communication in Barcelona

IED Communication trains professionals to be capable of working at managerial level in the various different areas of advertising, public relations, marketing and human resources.

The range of curricula available from IED Communications caters for the increasing need for new professional profiles in all areas of communications: these are extremely dynamic, continuously expanding sectors, whose increasingly strategic value means that they need well-trained, aware operators, specialists and professionals.

The lecturers are all professionals who work actively in the area of communications: their experience of both work and teaching ensures that the rapid transformations taking place in various contexts of production are immediately reflected in the contents of our courses.

Training that targets specific professions, constant attention to market demands, an everyday relationship with professionals working in the sector, inclusion in study and working groups for analysis and research purposes, for drawing up projects and for translating their theory into practice: these are the mainstays of the teaching philosophy and practice at IED Communications.

IED Communications trains those professionals whose careers will involve them in managing communications.

Combining theory with practice, the school’s transverse, multidisciplinary method sees a constant relationship with the professional and business communities as the element that qualifies its curriculum.

The rapid transformations taking place in various production contexts are immediately reflected in the course contents, enabling the school to act as an integral part of an increasingly articulate, demanding communications system. These courses are tailored for high-school leavers, young graduates and professionals who want to improve their skills.

Communication school in Barcelona, Olla campus

IED Barcelona is housed in an old example of totally refurbished industrial archaeology, a building that used to be a chocolate factory in the neighbourhood of Gracia, one of the most characteristic and “alternative” areas in this eternally active, dynamic city.

The building covers an area of about 1,900 m², featuring a central block that now houses the lecture theatres and a related but independent structure used for cultural events, meetings, round tables and exhibitions open to the general public.

The campus also has two further 300 m² facilities, which are home to its media library, several laboratories, workshops and the IED Showcase space, where shows of the best work created by students alternate with those of design professionals.

The school’s strong links with the fabric of local enterprise and the distinctly international vocation, both of IED itself and of the host city, have naturally generated a special focus on new technologies as an element of connection and interchange with the professional world in Italy and the rest of Europe and the development of an eLearning platform as a tool for integrating and further exploring the activities undertaken in the classroom.
