Introduction
Corporate Culture, Product Culture, Service Culture, Consumer Culture:
the challenge for Graphic Design in the globalized communication era is to interpret and reelaborate these basis to produce new significances: form messages with an innovate language comprehensible and recognizable to the target public, combining formal and symbolic elements, shaping the communication format according to users’ needs and perception.
New technologies have revolutionized visual communications in a very deep manner in the last years. To integrate their possibilities to enrich visual messages is a key factor to establish an effective communication.
Fluency in design global language is the key to success in the professional worlds, and along the same lines, students of Master in Graphic Design learn how to look at visualizations, creations and visual communication with dynamic, evolving, changeable and interactive conceptualization.
Objective
The aim of this Master is to provide students with theoretical and practical basis to develop an integral graphic design in 360º both in strategic and creative aspects, covering all its applicative areas in a synergic manner. It will be centered in the application of graphic design through new media and technologies, considered from bidimensionality to its interactive development in time and space.
Methodology
The Master is developed in three parallel areas:
• Cultural area: current environment of graphic design is analyzed with a cross-sectional view of the application of visual communication between disciplines, strategic design and creative development approaches.
• Technical area: disciplines, techniques and applied technologies. It will be focused on the application of technology to explore new visual experiences, which will become a sensory experience, interactive with the environment and for users’ information and communication.
• Project area: a final project, linked to a company / organization is arised, and it has to include the approach of every discipline and technique taught during the course. There are weekly support lessons, both for the coherence of the project and its creative execution.
Students profile
Graduates and professionals familiar with basic tools and concepts of visual communication, graphic design and their technologies, and who want to foster the strategic and creative skills in visual communication and graphic design.
For a proper development of the course’s projects, students must comprehend programming language and action script, so it is required to be proficient in the following software tools: PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Final Cut, After Effects.
Professional opportunities
Art directors, creatives, project managers in graphic, visual and multimedia communication, product interface design, wayfinding projects, visual communication for exhibit spaces and environments, branding and packaging, strategic design, visual communication in global design projects.
Coordinator
Each Master is assessed by a specialist in the area, who has an active role in the studies plan development and contents in collaboration with the didactics department of the Master Area. The coordinator also supports the incorporation of specific teachers of the sector, as well as the relationships with enterprises and institutions from the knowledge area of the course.
