If jewelry design is your passion and you want to spend the summer in the city of the “Grande Bellezza”, then our Summer Course in Jewelry Design Lab is the perfect choice for you.

Rome boasts centuries of history in the field of jewelry: it spans periods ranging from the Etruscans to Roman times, all the way to the present day with the evolution of the concept of contemporary jewelry. If jewelry design is your passion and you want to spend the summer in the city of the “Grande Bellezza”, then our Summer Course in Jewelry Design Lab is the perfect choice for you.

This course is open to everyone, and no specific requirements are needed. It will be the task of our highly specialized teachers to introduce you to the basics of metalworking. What we ask of you is curiosity and dynamism: together with your fellow students, you will explore Rome and its iconic sites. This is where you will experience the layering of different periods in the art, architecture, and history of the Eternal City. During this journey, you will immerse yourself in the world of jewelry design, from the basics of goldsmithing to workshop techniques.

As a centre of inspiration for research, this city will contribute to the development and refinement of jewelry design techniques through creativity as well as innovation.  The Final Project will consist in the creation of your personal jewelry piece and a digital presentation of your experience in Rome.

Information to decide

Two modules are included in the course, which alternates between practical lessons and visits to studios, museums, and art venues. During the first part of the course, you will be introduced to the basics of technical drawing while visiting Rome's most significant historical sites.

Together with your classmates, you will explore the city, drawing, photographing and interpreting everything that is presented to you under the guidance of qualified teachers.
In the second part, you will have the opportunity to try out representation techniques in our latest generation goldsmith laboratory and choose between three specialisations: Wax Jewelry making, Goldsmith techniques and Illustration techniques for jewelry.
At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to present your portfolio and talk about your impressions and reflections on your work as well as personal growth.

The course is designed for students who are interested in jewelry design and have not yet gained any relevant experiences or academic backgrounds.

Rome has a tradition of jewelry starting from the eighth century -back to the Roman and Etruscan times- and continuing on to the current generation of goldsmiths made strong by centuries of tradition and project design experience. This treasure of knowledge is waiting for you if you choose to take your programme here in Rome.  Additionally, the program will give you the opportunity to explore the city of Rome up close.
