IED the Istituto Europeo di Design is an international network of schools that organises training courses in Visual Arts, Design, Fashion, and Communication. The courses are aimed at talented people with creative ambition.
Founded in Milan, Italy in 1966, IED now has 11 campuses in 7 different cities:
- Italy: Milan, Turin, Florence, Rome;
- Spain: Barcelona, Madrid;
- Brazil: San Paolo;
which house the 4 Schools of Design: IED Fashion Lab, IED Design, IED Visual Arts School, IED Communication.
The IED Visual Arts School focuses on image and its communication. The Visual Arts courses give students the opportunity to learn the latest creative tools and techniques, and new information technologies needed for designing, conveying and elaborating images in today's world.
The Visual Arts School also offers students the possibility to study in an international atmosphere; over 9000 students from 90 different countries are enrolled at the IED. The quality of the lecturers, who are all professionals practising in their chosen field, and the close relationship with local businesses allows creativity to blend with design culture.
In fact, the IED Visual Arts college's strong links with the business community gives students on the Visual Arts courses the possibility to attend workshops and internships alongside their academic lectures and seminars. With this combination of theory and practice, students are fully aware of the needs of the market and are in touch with the real problems faced by businesses.
