A life dedicated to art

A life dedicated to art

On Wednesday, 1st February 2012 the students attending the first year of the course in Interior Design had a great opportunity.

During the lesson of History of Modern and Contemporary Art held by the Architect Massimo Gianquitto, the students had the chance to meet Angelo Dozio, abstractionist painter, who told them about the beginning and the development of his artistic experience.

His pathway was rich in engagement: from impressionistic and figural endeavour to informal experiences up to relative spin-offs. Dozio told how he managed to reach an expressive maturity by outlining a specific visual syntax: he expresses a formativity full of impulses based on points/lines, points/squares, grids and networks formed by infinitesimal emphasis on colours as well as on labyrinthine or  puzzle schemes.

Through his research, the artist aims at achieving a self-realization form through a pure painting and, in this way, at bringing to light the real essence of the abstractionism.

Why create art today? In today’s society, where critical thought and creative capacities are often put to the test by an extremely materialistic spirit, my personal experience has taught me to believe that artistic activity is a statement. Ever since human beings - with different cultures, behaviours, experiences and belonging to different societie - have begun to write and record history, and they have always left a trace of their knowledge of the world. Now it’s our turn! We can no longer be indifferent to what is happening around us. In a technologically advanced society in which computers have almost replaced the human work, can a computer replace the human creativity, too?” A. Dozio
