Fashion Design: specialization in Product Manager or Fashion Designer

Start date: January 2011 | Duration: 12 months | Language: eng

The Master course aims at creating Fashion and Textile Designers: explorers of the fashion trends, creative professionals able to link theoretical concepts, innovation, organization and relationship skills to the production world.

The pathway aims at training fashion designers, textile designers and product managers, who are able to design and coordinate clothing collections by starting from the research and the analysis of the contemporary trends and, then, by supervising the technical development of the garments and their production through the assessment of their feasibility, reproducibility and costs.

The students can chose between two technical pathways: on one side, the fashion design, to expand the research and creative development of a collection; on the other side, the product management that focuses on the study of the realization and production processes linked to the market logics.

The Master course is addressed to all graduates and to those who already work in the Fashion field.

Through a pathway consisting of modular studies, the students will have to approach a series of subjects that test and point out their skills in the drawing and in the use of manual techniques linked to the world of the knitwear and to the design, printing and reprocessing of fabrics without ignoring the important technological support of the most well-known information programmes. T

he technological-instrumental courses will include also cultural subjects that underline historical and sociological aspects necessary to design and develop a fashion project. Each project (menswear, womenswear and knitwear) was divided into essential and complementary segments to allow each student to face a collection plan with the proper tools and knowledge: from the knowledge of the materials to be used and the modelling and tailoring techniques up to the analytic study of the trends that - once identified and selected - will be useful to create effective and original collections in terms of image that are able to communicate the stylistic identity of the designer.

By starting from a further analysis of the most relevant clothes, their interpretation at a more commercial level will be supposed by studying their possible production at industrial level by paying particular attention to the assessment of the costs and the pricing process.
