Henry Jenkins for the first time in Rome
On Monday, July 9, Rome will be the capital of “Transmedia” for one day, on the occasion of the special Talking IED with Henry Jenkins, a world-leading expert on participatory cultures and transmediality, for the first time in Rome.
The theme of the meeting is “Transmedia generation. How young creative professionals and participatory culture are changing the world through the media”. Jenkins will be talking and exchanging views with Max Giovagnoli, the first transmedia producer in Italy, a consultant for major films studios and TV broadcasters and coordinator of the three-year Media Design course at IED, Rome, who explains: «Doing Transmedia means telling stories which are simultaneously distributed on multiple media, keeping the features and the language of each one; turning creative products into great participatory worlds in a global environment».Transmedia mobilization, spreadable media, fan activism, participatory learning, viral media are some of the keywords of a new vocabulary which is setting the pace for a global cultural revolution driven by “participatory culture”.
The event is organized by IED in partnership with the network Cross-media.it, in collaboration with the American Embassy in Italy and Umbria Region.
