Visual Communication

It offers a large and deep overview of the subjects linked to the visual communication. Themes such as graphics, video, advertising, and the world of the new media (web, virtual and digital reality) will be dealt in a basic way so that students can be able, if necessary, to face a higher level training pathway.

Aimed at

The Master course is addressed to Italian and foreign students with an education in different fields or in fields linked to the subject who want to further develop their skills.

 

 

Objectives

The course offers a broad and profound panorama of disciplines related to visual communication. Areas such as graphics, video, advertising, and new media will be covered in a way as to give participants the fundamental tools they need to initiate a career in the world of design. In the case that participants intend to continue training in this area, they will be eligible to access 2nd Level masters courses.

Didactic Method

The training path uses a dynamic and effective methodology including theoretical lessons, practical individual and group exercises, laboratory activities, visits to design studios, commercial printing specialists, trade fairs, exhibitions, workshops, encounters with professionals working in the different fields of visual communication.

Candidate profile

The Master course is addressed to Italian and foreign students with a background of training in a variety of fields that wish to redirect their career objectives or those from pertinent fields who need further development.

Career Prospects

Participants will be capable of tackling the basic areas of visual communication and graphic design. The course experience and technical abilities acquired will facilitate participants to find work in areas closer to their design vocation. Participants will obtain eligibility for a 2nd Level Master course in the areas of graphics (e.g. MA Graphic Design) or in areas related to communication (e.g. MA Communication Design Lab).

Monica Kobiakov - Master’s degree Coordinator

Graduates in Mechanical Engineering in 2001 and for several years works in Venezuela, India, Italy and Spain. After attending a two-year Master in Product Design at IED Madrid, she works at Quinine Design Partnership in London where she takes part in projects that include a large scale retail rollout for Orange UK and collaborations with Royal College of Arts (RCA Innovations) and London's Imperial College. In 2007 she is one of the 40 international designers invited by DuPont Corian® to participate at the “40 Years - 40 Designers” travelling exhibition opening at the Milan Design Week. In 2008, together with colleague Luca Lunghini, she founds Tre Tigri Design in Rome, a creative lab, laser cutting and prototyping service for architects, designers, advertising agencies, engineers and stylists. Since 2008 she collaborates with IED Rome as a speaker for various Master courses.

Luca Lunghini - Master’s degree Coordinator

Industrial Designer and co-founder since 2008 of Tre Tigri Design. Manages various lines of products developed for bookshops of numerous Italian museums in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura and the publishing house Mondadori Electa. Since 2008 he has taught at IED Rome at the masters in “Food Design”, “Management for Luxury Goods” and “Event and Museum Administrator” and at the three-year course in Industrial Design. For two years he worked in London at “Quinine Design Partnership”, as a

designer developing projects for Orange U.K, Royal College of Arts (RCA), Acco and Sony Ericsson. He previously lived in Spain where he graduated in Industrial Design at IED Madrid, obtained a Master RSP in Product Design and worked at IED Studio Lab as a designer and researcher for projects commissioned by Electrolux Professional, NOTS Foundation and the creative cooking lab La Broche.

Simone Bertuccioli

Graduates from high school at the European School of Bergen (NL) and continues his studies at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, where he obtains a degree in Graphic Design. Meanwhile he gains experience in areas related to graphics, video, photography and web design. Back in native Rome he specialises in computer multimedia at the Istituto di Cultura Pantheon. As freelance designer he's gained extensive knowledge in the fields of graphic design applied to apparel, music albums, corporate identity, branding, video editing and multimedia platforms for the web. Currently he manages websites, ranging from fashion to design, from hotels to non-profit organizations, participates as an active member and developer in some open source / free software projects and studies computer engineering at the University “La Sapienza”.

Alessandro Confalonieri

Has a diploma in industrial design from the Istituto Europeo di Design, Milan and an MA in industrial design at the Royal College of Art, London. He has worked on projects for Guzzini, Driade, Luceplan and concepts for TagHeurer, Herman Miller and Airbus. In 2003 forms Quinine Design Partnership, a creative consultancy whose clients included Orange UK. Has taught at IED Madrid, Domus Academy and Naba (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti). In 2007 forms in Milan Intersezioni, a design consultancy.

Main activity in DA, Coordinator Education Area. Professor of Industrial Design Faculty, Politecnico di Milano. He studies graphic design in UNE (Universidad Nueva Esparta) in Caracas. In 1999 he creates his first TV animation which wins, the following year, \"Best Animation\" at the ANDA Awards. In 2000 he establishes the studio LDTQHLADLIDSG (translated: The two guys who created the Seguros Guayana iguana animation) where he creates, until 2004, over 30 animations for TV and film with numerous clients such as Pepsi, MTV, Chevrolet and BBVA, among others.Since january 2006 he resides in Barcelona where he works in graphic design, illustration and animation with brands such as Seat, Desigual and J&B, in collaboration with diverse production studios such as Vectorsoul, No-Domain, Antomic and El Terrat.
