IED Language Requisite

Italian Language Courses: IED allows admission to the first year of the course to students who can demonstrate a B1 level of Italian proficiency provided that there is a serious engagement to reach the B2 level within the timeframe indicated above.

English Language Courses: IED allows admission to the first year of the course to students who can demonstrate a 5.0 IELTS (500 TOEFL or equivalent) level of English proficiency provided that there is a serious engagement to reach the B2 level within the timeframe indicated above.

There are two ways for an applicant to prove that he or she has the necessary language proficiency and learning capacity:

a. present a language proficiency certificate issued by authorised institutions;
b. in case of absence of a certificate, take the online Language Assessment Test.

IED Admission and Enrollment Process

IED Diploma courses are structured on IED Credits which are constructed with the same methodology of the Bologna –Bergen treaty and European credit system. For most Diploma courses in Milan and Rome the syllabus, the classes, the academic structure and the academic staff are the same as the ones of the Bachelor of Arts classes. The main differences are that the Diploma entry requirements, though they are aligned with the requirements of other European countries, are slightly less strict than the entry requirements established by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universi- ty and Research (MIUR/AFAM), to allow students that cannot obtain entry to Italian universities to study nevertheless in Italy. The Diploma therefore cannot be validated by MIUR/AFAM. The IED Admission process selectivity and study quality is nevertheless the same as the one of BA Accredited course.

IED ADMISSION AND ENROLMENT PROCESS

The Admission and Enrolment process foresees four steps to be completed before October 15th 2012.

The four admission steps are the following:

1) Pre-enrollment process
2) Personal Admission Test Interview
3) Enrolment confirmation process
4) Matriculation process

The on-line sessions will enable students to take the whole admission test interview (including the personal motivation interview and the language proficiency test) directly from the home PC using SKYPE as a platform.

The dates and time of the interview will be jointly agreed directly with the IED international admission office.

The Admission Test Interview consists of:

a. motivational interview based on a mandatory Motivational Letter and a digital Portfolio (suggested);
b. a language assessment test.

Please note: An on-site motivational interview can be organized only in special cases if the students are in Italy

Enrolment Confirmation

Once students have passed the admission interview, they will receive from IED:

a. a Certificate of Admission;

Reccomended Timing

Enrolment for the 2012-2013 academic year at IED started in November 2011 and ends in September 2012. In order to successfully enroll foreign students, especially those coming from NON-EU countries, are strongly advised to send all documentation and start the process of admission to IED as soon as possible.

Transfer Student

In order to start the transfer procedure your academic curriculum will have to be evaluated by our Academic Commission. The evaluation may let you enter at the first year with credits recognized or at the second year (with debits). In addition to the documents required for admission process IED needs to receive by email:

a. Transfer Student Form duly filled and signed (downloadable on the BA Course web page);
b. study curriculum translated into Italian or English, specifying the credits obtained  and a Description of the subjects (syllabus);
c. university transcript;
d. a personal Curriculum Vitae;
e. a digital Portfolio;
f. proof of Payment of 150 euros as Tax for evaluation of Academic Curriculum (if after the evaluation of the curriculum you decide to enroll this sum will be included in the enrollment fee).

All documents must be send via email to admissions@ied.edu

Once IED has received all this documentation, the Academic Council will appraise the application’s suitability to be directly admitted to the 2nd year after evaluation of the academic credits and/or debits situation. If admitted the applicant will have to undergo an interview with a member of the Academic Team of the chosen location to undersign the Course Structure.

Enrolment and Tuition Fees

Enrolment and tuition fees can be found for each BA Course you wish to apply for in the pre-enrolment form downloadable in the selected Course page. They are composed by: Enrolment Fee, Regional DSU Tax, Admission Test Interview Fee and Tuition Fee.

The Language Prerequisite course fee, if requested, is not included in the above mentioned fees.

Reimbursements

IED will reimburse the Enrolment Fee only if NON-EU visa application is refused (letter of refusal to be provided as evidence).

Please note: Withdrawal from courses follow IED General Administrative Conditions and Regulations, that can be downloaded from the website.

AFTER ENROLMENT

Payment of tuition fee

After enrolling, students need to proceed with payment of the tuition fee and, if requested, the Prerequisite fee within the provided timing.

Prerequisite placement test

Students who need to follow the Prerequisite language course, have to report to IED at the beginning of September to undergo a language placement test necessary to evaluate the appropriate class level.

Induction Programme.

All the students enrolled to IED courses have to participate in the Induction Programme, which is designed to welcome and introduce new students to IED and gain important information about the course they are enrolled in.

After completing all these steps will be officially an IED student, ready to begin your new experience!
