Master in Sustainable Architecture at IED Turin starting in April 2012

Sustainable architecture is framed by the larger discussion of sustainability and the pressing economic and political issues of our world. The idea of sustainability, or ecological design, is to ensure that our actions and decisions today do not inhibit the opportunities of future generations.
Recognizing the importance of this subject, the Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin, Italy, offers a Master in Sustainable Architecture. The course begins in April 2012 and will be held in English. Specifically tailored for graduates in architecture and civil engineering, the aim of the course is to train designers capable of understanding and managing the dynamics behind environmental strategies and transforming the need to address the problem of energy consumption in buildings into a creative opportunity.
A professional who can combine architectural design competence with the technical knowledge required to come up with a sustainable project. Mario Cucinella, an Italian architect who has worked to adapt his designs to climate and sustainability issues, is the coordinator of the IED master.
The course will provide insight into the awareness and culture on which sustainability is based, presenting the different contexts in which it can be applied, retracing the history of the exploitation of renewable resources right up to an overview of current transnational energy policies. “The main target of the course is the use of innovative technologies and professional skill, to embody an ideal of architectural quality integrating environmental sustainability, ethics and a positive social impact”, explains Cucinella, the only Italian architect to win twice the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards.
The course has a limited number of openings so don’t don’t waste any more time, request information and book in for an interview.
