IED at the Italian Pavillon of Astana Expo 2017

Expo Astana 2017 looks at the future and focuses on energy: from June 10th to September 10th 2017, the Kazakh capital will host the first international event in a Central Asian country. The Expo Astana project represents a concrete commitment to sustainable development and involves six international organizations and about a hundred countries; Italy is present with a pavilion conceived for Future Energy. Among the visuals that will feature the exhibition space, there is a visual content, created by IED Roma students* from the Three-year course in Video Design: a video projection on two large bright surfaces, creating a narrative that will welcome visitors.

Thanks to the support of Italian Embassy in Astana, IED – Istituto Europeo di Design will hold two events on September 7th at the Conference room of the Italian Pavilion summing up the best projects developed during 2017 and planning the future steps of cooperation between Italy and Kazakhstan in design education and creative industry:

– From 10 AM to 12 PM – The Italian way: Design, Architecture and Sustainability. A debate with Salvatore Amura, President at Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli IED Como, and Andrea Tosi, Dean of international partnership and innovation, IED Group.
Are you interested in Italian design and architecture? Join the conference with famous Italian opinion leaders: Marco Balich, Artistic Director and Olympic Producer, and Stefano Boeri, Architect and Urban Planner.

– From 2 PM to 5 PM – The emerging talents of design and fashion – the future energy of Kazakhstan. Round table and defilé in collaboration with KazUTB – Kazakh University of Technology and Business and ATU – Almaty Technological University. Presentation of the double-degree in Fashion Design offered in both institutions with Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli IED Como. Do you like Italian fashion? This conference is for you!

In occasion of World Italian Design Day organized by Italian Embassy in Astana last March the 2nd, IED – Istituto Europeo di Design launched the Fashion4Future Contest and awarded one of the winners, Dariga Taishikova, with a special merit-based scholarship to attend a IED Firenze Summer Course in the field of Fashion titled “Design – Made in Italy”. Thanks to the agreement recently signed by IED Group, all the 8 winners of the Fashion4Future Contest will have a chance to show their creations in the fashion show this upcoming November during Astana Fashion Week. KKapsule by Korlan Madi will present a short defilé of collections of IED Milano Alumni Minimal To and IED Roma Alumni The B., as an example of Italian Excellency.
