The Master Yacht Design & Construction comes in a new biennial format that results from the experience developed during the three previous editions. This choice is mainly based on the idea to give more space to the design and practical part in order to offer students a general vision of the yacht design and construction.
During the firstyear, the course will mainly focus on the theoretical teaching by ranging from naval architecture and structural design, over the interior design and board systems, to building techniques, materials and equipment.Of course, the theoretical part will be integrated with practical exercises and interactive work to be carried out with the teachers of the various subjects. Moreover, visits to yards and equipment suppliers are scheduled.
At the end of the firstyear, the students will have to present a thesis that will be evaluated by a Technical Committee composed by Master teachers and some of the most important experts working in the field. The positive assessment of the Committee will be necessary to enter the second year.
The second year will be a practical-designing pathway where students have to prove that they are able to apply what they learnt in the previous year; the work will focus on two group theme-projects and a finaldesign thesis whose subject will be freely chosen by each student. During the second year, to complete the practical lessons about naval construction, it is necessary to realize a boat that will be built by starting from a project chosen by the coordinator of the course.

Sebastiano Rech Morassutti
He studied naval design with international references and has been sailing on scow and pleasure boats since the age of 14. In 1984 he became a freelance journalist and a professional photographer.
He is a member of S.A.M.P.E. (Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering) since 1994 and of S.N.A.M.E. (Society of Naval Architect and Marine Engineer).
Since the ‘70s he has been involved in the management and construction of racing and cruise yachts with sophisticated composite materials. He was technical director of Tencara during the development of the yachts for the America’s Cup challenge “Il Moro di Venezia”. In 1995, with two other partners, he founded Trimarine Ltd (UK), and few months later Trimarine s.r.l. was opened in Belluno. The two companies are specialized in consultancy services, design and project management in the yacht construction with advanced composites. Among the main projects followed by Trimarine there are eight yachts for the America’s Cup, maxi yachts like “Virtuelle” (A. Vallicelli/P. Starck design) and many other cruise yachts.
