The Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design (240 ECTS) prepares visual designers capable of devising, programming and creating visual communication, both online and offline, to stimulate users.

The course offers an education on the creative processes of investigation, interpreting, conception and production with the objective of communicating, embellishing and finding innovative solutions for a product, a brand or a space through graphic language.

The methodology is based on “learning by doing” and fosters interdisciplinarity between the areas of design, fashion, and management for creative industries through workshops and common projects. and yearly projects, as well as the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary manner on the thesis project. The program provides a structured core curriculum, providing incremental learning goals to the students throughout the four years, leading to the thesis or degree final project for real companies.


The first year of this degree is focused on acquiring basic concepts of design, culture and project methods. Students learn to dare to create and communicate.

 As from the second year, the necessary technological and project managing tools are explored, to communicate simple and effective visual messages through the development of the own creativity and interdisciplinary methodological processes. Students concentrate on acquiring knowledge on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effect, Apple Final Cut, etc. Also, some elements are emphasised, such as typography in an editorial context, narrative language in audiovisual pieces and motion graphics.

In the third year students begin to contact with companies and also to develop more technical and complex projects, with prototypes and real costs implied, in addition to designs for corporate identity, packaging, signage, posters, etc.

During the fourth year students take a compulsory internship in a company and each one chooses a professional profile. Creative management acquires a great relevance through project management and the capacity of implementing the knowledge acquired in the previous years. In the end, the degree final project is developed in collaboration with real companies.

Óscar Germade
Creative Director at SOLO. Specialist in corporate identity, editorial design and packaging. He was Art Director of the Office of Barcelona. He combines his professional activity with teaching as a professor of typography at IED, as well as giving lectures and workshops.

Sergio Correa

Sergio Correa
Founder and director of Loop + in Barcelona. University professor, with experience in graphic design, research, and professional practice in the USA and Europe.In the United States he has been vice president of the Educational Foundation and the Board of Directors of SEGD (Society for Environmental Graphic Design) in Washington, and lectured in various conferences on design and education in Providence, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, Barcelona, Lisbon and Utrecht. Between 2003 and 2006 he directed a research project in Barcelona funded by the European Commission called "AGORA: Cities for People".

Eric Olivares

Eric Olivares
Designer, illustrator, performer and new media artist. He works in institutions and companies doing projects of: corporate identity, illustration, poster, editorial and expositive spaces, museography and scenography, among others.

Joao Alves

Joao Alves
Founding partner at Somos Brand Strategy and Design, works as a consultant for Norman Vilalta Bespoke and he’s the former Brand and Communication Director for IDEP Barcelona. Has a degree in Design and Communication (ARCAEUAC, Portugal) and a Masters Degree in Communication and Public Spaces (ELISAVA). João is specialized in educational branding and has worked with some the most prestigious schools in Spain, he has also developed projects with Ferran and Albert Adriá, AirFrance, MACBA and other clients from different industries such as fashion, consultancy, beverage, etc.

Hernán Ordóñez

Designer and professor of Design and Typography in several institutions in Spain and Argentina. Author of Typex, a book published by Indexbook; lecturer at the Festival Trimarchi DG República Argentina and member of the selection committee of Spanish Design Yearbook Select H. Facilitator of the LEGO© Serious Play© method workshops.

Alberto Tognazzi

Alberto Tognazzi
Director of MovilFilmFest and Mobile Cells, and consultant for the Ministry of Culture (ICAA). Net artist and creator of several on-line projects as “Es- tamos de cierre”, and coproducer of the stop-motion animation film “O Apóstolo”.

Alex Beltrán

Alex Beltrán
He is one of the leaders of the studio StuffedPi- xels in Barcelona, has worked for clients such as Adidas, TMB, Seat, Volkswagen, etc., developing video and photography post-production projects. Creator of programmed audiovisual experiences for Sónar Barcelona, Design Made Korea or Lowlands. Certified Trainer of Apple Pro and other tools such as DaVinci Resolve.

Idoia García
Management and coordination of research projects in design and new technologies. Creation of digital content for e-learning platforms. Several works in different media and platforms.
