Studying design in Barcelona means immersing yourself in an open, creative city with a strong global outlook.

Cosmopolitan yet distinctly Mediterranean, Barcelona is renowned for its deep connection to architecture, fashion, design and visual culture. From Gaudí’s legacy to new generations of creative studios, the city brings together history, innovation and a vibrant cultural scene.

Barcelona is also a key hub for the creative industries. International events such as the Mobile World Congress, OFFF and Barcelona Design Week contribute to a dynamic environment where talent, businesses and ideas continuously intersect.

Within this context, IED Barcelona, located in the Gràcia district, offers students a learning experience closely linked to the city’s cultural and professional landscape, within an international community open to exchange and design practice.

Three alumni brands to present their collections at 080 Barcelona Fashion

Eñaut, Guillermo Justicia (IED Barcelona) and REPARTO (IED Madrid) will showcase their collections on the most international fashion runway in Spain which, from 14 to 17 April, will bring creative and designer fashion to its new location at Port Vell, Marina Vela, for the first time.

IED Alumni in Spain's Most International Fashion Show

EIKŌ AI (IED Barcelona), Moisés Nieto, Carlota Barrera, and Reparto (IED Madrid) will hit the runway at the 36th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, which will be held from 14 to 17 October at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site.

Designer Luis de Javier, IED Barcelona alumnus, joins the ‘Maestros de la Costura Celebrity’ talent show

An international benchmark in fashion that celebrates diversity, he studied the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design at IED Barcelona. He will join Lorenzo Caprile and María Escoté as the third member of the jury, replacing Alejandro Gómez Palomo.

Studying at IED means living in a community and connected to Barcelona. Students, teachers, alumni and school staff form part of an ecosystem on and off campus, at the service of students and in connection with the business world.

The centre's 7,000 m2 of services, distributed in classrooms, networking spaces and laboratories, are equipped with the latest technological tools, materials and services for design training; Fashion Labs, Render Lab, Media Lab, XR Lab, Textile Lab, Mobility Lab, etc., make the centre a dynamic creative laboratory at the service of design training. The particular needs of the students are attended to in a personalised way by a team of professionals, oriented towards both curricular competencies and personal growth throughout the training course.

  • Metro (Lesseps and Fontana stations, approximately 5 and 10 minutes’ walk respectively).

  • Buses, as well as a wide range of shared mobility options including electric bikes, motorbikes and e-scooters.

  • The two main bus stations, Estació del Nord and Sants, are around 20 minutes away by car.

  • The airport is approximately 30 minutes away and is well connected by public transport.
