Discover how artificial intelligence can become a creative tool and learn to combine design, imagination, and technology through hands-on experimentation with generative AI.

Artificial Intelligence for Design – Junior is a Summer Course designed for students aged 15 to 18 who are curious about design, creativity, and technological innovation. Throughout the program, you will explore how generative artificial intelligence can be integrated into creative processes, not as a substitute for human creativity, but as a powerful tool to expand it.

You will learn how to work with generative AI tools such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and ChatGPT to create images, texts, and ideas, while developing essential skills such as critical thinking, visual awareness, and problem-solving. Through hands-on experimentation, you will begin to understand how AI can support creative decision-making and open new possibilities in design.

Over two intensive weeks in Barcelona, you will work on challenging design briefs that combine different disciplines and perspectives. You will collaborate with other students, share ideas, present your projects, and receive constructive feedback. The experience is enriched by exposure to Barcelona’s creative environment, encouraging you to look beyond the classroom and draw inspiration from the city.

Information to decide

Combine creativity, technology, and critical thinking while developing essential skills to face the challenges of design and innovation in the 21st century.

The program is based on hands-on learning, experimentation, and collaboration. You will take part in a series of guided activities designed to help you explore the creative potential of generative artificial intelligence within design processes.

Throughout the course, you will:

  • Work on innovative design challenges that encourage creativity and the integration of AI across different disciplines.
  • Collaborate through teamwork, learning from students with diverse interests and perspectives.
  • Develop confidence through presentations and critiques, learning how to explain your creative decisions and reflect on feedback.
  • Experiment with AI tools to build your own creative dialogue with generative systems for idea generation and content creation.
  • Take part in cultural visits, discovering Barcelona’s creative scene and expanding your references and sources of inspiration.

This course is for students aged 15 to 18 who want to explore how artificial intelligence can be used creatively in design and other related fields.

It is especially suitable if you are curious, enjoy experimenting with ideas and images, and are interested in creativity, visual culture, and emerging technologies. No previous experience with AI is required—just an open and exploratory mindset.

This program allows you to explore artificial intelligence as a creative tool within design, helping you understand how technology and creativity come together today. Through hands-on experimentation, you will develop creative confidence, critical thinking, and skills that are increasingly relevant for future studies in design, innovation, and visual culture.

Syllabus

During the course, you will explore the following key areas:

  • Introduction to generative artificial intelligence
  • AI tools: Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and ChatGPT
