Develop critical projects addressing current social challenges through a combination of technical experimentation and cultural reflection.

From a multidisciplinary perspective, the Master in Digital Arts and Creative Technologies will provide you with technical knowledge of various digital production tools. Through project-based learning, you will develop the ability to create artistic works in different formats, such as immersive installations, video games, websites, augmented reality applications, or audiovisual content. In this way, you will gain comprehensive digital training that will give you a solid foundation from which to specialize in your future professional practice.

Your learning will be built on a critical understanding of the technological infrastructures that enable digital creation in all its formats. This approach will make you aware of the sociopolitical implications of the digital environment and prepare you to create with critical awareness and social responsibility.

This programme is taught at IED Madrid Design District - Oporto.

Information to decide

Digital innovation with cultural and social impact

The curriculum integrates theory and practice to foster a holistic approach in which critical thinking evolves alonside artistic creation.

It is structured around three core strands:

The projects area, the focal point of the learning experience, where you will work on audiovisual proposals, phygital projects and transmedia experiences.

The creative technologies area, focused on digital production processes, from project management through to mastering specific tools such as 3D modelling, creative coding, sound design, VR/AR and artificial intelligence.

The art and culture area, which brings together theoretical subjects and seminars that delve into the history and social impact of technology, design and digital media. These also serve as spaces for dialogue with active professionals through masterclasses and visits.

This master’s program is aimed at individuals holding a bachelor’s degree in design, fine arts, architecture, audiovisual communication, or an equivalent field. This prior training ensures that future students, on the one hand, possess certain basic creative skills and, on the other, are familiar with digital creation tools commonly used in the discipline.

Previous experience with software such as Adobe Creative Suite is required. Knowledge of basic programming or 3D modeling tools (such as Blender or Cinema 4D) is recommended, though not mandatory.

In addition, a minimum English level of B2 is required in order to adequately follow classes and to actively participate in the master’s collaborative and international work environment.

This program will train you as a well-rounded professional, capable of leading innovation in the digital field. You will learn to develop pioneering creative projects—such as immersive experiences, interactive narratives, or multimedia content—while mastering emerging technologies like extended reality, artificial intelligence, and creative programming.

In addition, you will acquire the skills needed to manage multidisciplinary teams and lead projects in sectors such as video games, immersive installations, or interactive applications. This comprehensive training will prepare you to stand out in a constantly evolving environment, combining technical expertise, critical thinking, and a strategic vision of contemporary design.

Upon completing the master’s program, you will be prepared to work in the following fields:

  • New Media Designer: create visual narratives and interactive experiences in digital, hybrid, or experimental environments.

  • Creative Technologist: apply technological tools such as creative programming, AI, or sensors to the development of cultural and design projects.

  • Digital Creative: develop concepts and visual campaigns that integrate design, technology, and contemporary media.

  • Interactive Visual Artist: explore new visual and technological languages to create immersive and interactive works.

  • Audiovisual Developer: produce moving-image content, from video art to motion graphics, integrating image and sound.

  • Immersive Experience Designer: build XR environments (virtual, augmented, or mixed reality) with strong narrative and sensory components.
