IED – Istituto Europeo di Design offers in Florence an intensive and challenging range of courses specifically designed to help you to create and develop your skills in communication, marketing, organization of events, new media technologies, requested by the Fashion Industry, through a wisely balanced mix of theoretical information and practical approach to the Fashion System, including conferences with professionals, visits to relevant companies and fashion fairs, group and individual projects in collaboration with fashion brands.


Master Professional in FASHION BUSINESS

The Program aims to produce a specific fashion figure in the fields of event management and brand communication, a professional figure capable of creating events and managing an integrated communication strategy for a fashion brand. The course mixes creative communication skills with an analytical and strategic approach.

Professional Figure
The program develops professional skills for participants who want to become experts in fashion events and public relations, specific figures include fashion event managers, mediators or fashion PRs in press offices, publishing (press, web and TV), content creators, new media specialists, consultants and fashion communication managers.

The Master’s goals
The Fashion Event and PR Master course’s aim is to give participants the opportunity to further develop their acquired skills through a transversal analytical approach of the Fashion System and an experiential didactic method that combines theory to practice.  The program is structured so that participants will have the opportunity to work on real life situations and promote fashion brands, designers and artisans as well as gain insight into the communication chain of fashion and its multi-faceted integrated strategies that increasingly involve New Media and Social portals.
The Master will include a trip to Milan for the Fashion Week.
Some final works were planned during Pitti Immagine (June edition in collaboration with the Ducth Embassy) and Firenze4Ever in collaboration with LuisaViaRoma

Marketing and Communication are two of the main factors that determine whether brands that compete in the Fashion system will be successful or not. The academic year in Fashion Marketing and Communication is an intensive program that trains professionals to be capable of conceiving and managing an integrated promotions strategy, seek external relations with other actors working in the sector, monitor advertising campaigns, maintain relations with the media and organize events and Fashion shows.
Partners & Collaborations
The main partner of the next edition will be, one of the most important top level luxury e-Stores. During the last editions, former students had the opportunity to actively collaborate with important fashion brands such as Emilio Pucci, Calvin Klein Underwear, Roberto Cavalli, Gianni Versace Parfum and others. A special project has also been presented in collaboration with Fendi during a Pitti Immagine Fashion fair.

The Spring Fashion Communication semester forms the basis of the program by drawing together the various disciplines that make up the core vision of the program. Project work and collaboration with companies and industry professionals as the foundation of the IED philosophy.
A prime example is the Fashion Communication and Events course, which in 2011 saw students develop, organize and produce a social media communication campaign and press release articles for Fendi’s special project series “Fatto a Mano for the Future”, during the Pitti Uomo fashion week.

The Fashion Marketing semester focus is developed through the courses offered, the companies chosen for collaborations and the project that concludes the semester. Important courses and topics such as branding and fashion marketing, which are the bases for the creation of effective and strategic marketing plans, coherent brand philosophy and image construction and ultimately good sales will be thoroughly covered in the classroom as well as utilized in student project work and presentations.
Fashion Marketing course Highlight: Fashion Marketing “Ken Scott Study” – The 2011 class project was an analysis of the Ken Scott brand. Students prepared and presented a re-launch of the brand. As part of the project, students met with a designer from Ken Scott, had access to the company archives and gave their final presentations for a member of the Ken Scott international marketing team.

Develops the essential skills and techniques to create and design professional fashion events. Students will learn how to merge the use of public relation strategies, fashion communication and event planning in order to stage an actual fashion event as their final project for a partner company.

Fashion Communication introduces students to the practical aspects of fashion photography, from the activity as a stylist to the relationship with the photographer. This course places a unique emphasis on the communication of fashion and lifestyle messages. Students will acquire a range of skills through theoretical and live project-based case studies, working both individually and in groups.
