The first free urban camping during the Milano Design Week was back and this year we presented a dynamic cultural program: Designing Togetherness

From 7-13 April the first free urban camping during Milano Design Week for students worldwide, The Glitch Camp, returned for its second edition.

Once again it was located in the "Enrico Cappelli Savorelli” Sports Centre with the support of Comune di Milano and Milanosport. This initiative wanted to ensure that as many international young students as possible can visit the city during Design Week.  The intention was to democratize the creative and relational heritage that comes to life in Milan every year over these days.

Thanks to the partnership with BASE MilanoThe Glitch Camp also welcomed young designers on the terrace of the Cultural Centre in Via Tortona, where the fifth edition of We Will Design, the Design Week at BASE, took place.

The glitchers used a campsite equipped with Ferrino tents designed specifically for outdoor activities, such as trekking and camping. Each tent was supplied with a set of IKEA, products, designed to ensure a comfortable night's sleep and allow visitors to make the most of the busy days spent visiting the Fuorisalone. The pathways of the campsite were illuminated by Bosch portable lamps, symbolically igniting the spark of creativity while casting a spotlight on the innovative ideas of future designers.

The Glitch Camp is a Cultural Commons

This year, the common spaces and the cultural programme Designing Togetherness were designed by IED Milano's Master of Arts school, which guided students through a reflection on the quality and timing of spontaneous interactions.

It was a vibrant programme that combined workshops, sports and wellness activities, moments of conviviality and cultural encounters, offering an educational and interdisciplinary experience for campers and the public.

The event represented a unique opportunity for students to concretely apply the Design X Commons design approach to The Glitch Camp, the narrative that characterises all Master of Arts programmes, a concrete opportunity to make design more accessible, offering participants a place to experiment, exchange ideas, learn and build professional and personal connections.
