Faces, a new free workshop on design and digital production at the new Fab Lab IED Madrid
Visual Communication Madrid
On the occasion of the new workshop and technological lab of the IED Madrid, on Friday the 3rd of July we are offering a free* workshop on digital production with the artists and architects Jose Ja Ja Ja and Ruohong Wu. Become a true maker and discover all the possibilities offered by cutting edge equipment applied to design!
Drawing is one of the main communication tools and allows us to design characters, prints, portraits etc. But, what if you could turn them into 3D pieces? It is now possible to go beyond the computer screen with the help of digital production machines which turn digital designs into physical objects. This move from “bits to atoms and matter” turns each of us into producers and consumers, and opens the door to what is possibly the most important industrial revolution of the last few years.
In this context we are offering a four-hour introductory workshop so that you can test your creative skills and your desire to experiment. By using an entertaining exercise with a range of masks designs we will test our imagination, working with a laser cut prototype machine, going from 2D objects to objects, which can subsequently be further manipulated with paint.
Jose Ja Ja Ja is an architect who trained at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, a comic artist and a renowned illustration who has won a number of international awards. Ruohong Wu is also an architect, artist and designer. Although she was born in China, Ru she studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and took a Master of Design and Innovation at the IED Madrid. They are both teachers and regular collaborators of the IED Visual Madrid.
