Marie Claire Maison has selected the new leading figures in contemporary design to inspire new trends. Including six talented IED Alumni.

Defining contemporary style and inspiring new trends: these are the international design talents selected by Marie Claire Maison as Best 50 Designers for 2021.

The international furnishing and design magazine, a point of reference for the world of interior decoration, has scoured the five continents, choosing the greatest interpreters capable of inspiring and nourishing the imagination of contemporary living.

Among the charismatic leading figures on the international scene are six young people who have honed their talents at the Istituto Europeo di Design in the courses of Interior Design and Product Design.

After her studies at IED, the successful Chiara Andreatti has worked with numerous design studios including Lissoni Associati. Her work combines classic architectural codes with the use of heterogeneous materials and has convinced Marie Claire Maison with her decorative sensibility as well as her important collaborations including those with Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, Potocco, Mingardo and Glas Italia.

Born in 1989, after graduating from the IED in Milan in 2011, Federica Biasi already has a CV full of successes and collaborations, including working as Art Director for Mingardo, at just 32 years of age. Marie Claire Maison defines her as “elegant” because of her style inspired by Nordic design from which Biasi has been able to capture and interpret its aesthetic beauty and formal simplicity.

South African Cara Judd and Italian Davide Gramatica are partners in work and in life. Both IED Alumni, they create furniture with sculptural forms, opening up their talents to experimentation with materials, techniques and processes linked to different territories. Their multidisciplinary studio CARA / DAVIDE produces works represented by both brands and galleries.

The work of Antonio Facco is the synthesis of sensitive research inspired by an analysis of the behaviour and habits of the new generations. At only twenty-six years of age, he has collaborated with a number of internationally renowned architects, designers and companies including Antolini, Bolon, Cappellini, AugustaWestland, Mohm, and has caught the attention of Marie Claire Maison with his portfolio, which boasts both residential and interior design projects.

Marie Claire Maison described him as ‘”intimate”’, emphasising the functionality combined with the emotion that characterises his products. IED Alumnus Federico Peri is winner of numerous international awards with his projects in fields ranging from retail to furniture design, from the conception of commercial areas to private homes. The philosophical approach outlining his design process characterises the constant empathic dialogue between objects and the surrounding space.

Six talents to keep an eye on and to whom IED wishes a career full of new successes.
