Josep Ferrando | Bio

Architect. Combines design and construction with his teaching activities. He has been lecturing in several universities since 1998. Some of these include the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB), La Salle Engineering and Architecture School, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires (UTDT), Istituto Europeo di Design Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro, and the Eina School of Art and Design. He has also been a guest professor at Hochschule für Technik Zürich (HSZT) in Switzerland, Escola da Cidade in Sao Paulo, Universidade Positivo (UNICENP) in Curitiba, and Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), Brazil. He has given talks at various universities, including Harvard Graduate School of Design, Cornell University, Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and at the International Union of Architects (IUA) conference in Tokyo. His work has been exhibited in several countries including the United States, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, and Portugal. And prestigious Architecture Galleries like Aedes Berlin, events like the Biennale di Architettura di Venezia and museums like MAM Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro.

Gema Gomez | Bio

Gema has been working as Fashion Designer for many years until she founded Slow Fashion Next. Communicator, coach, teacher and consultant, after working in big fashion companies in Madrid and Fashion Trends Institutes in Paris, Gema decides to work in the solutions for the problems the fashion system was creating environmentally and socially speaking. Slow Fashion Next is a Professional Platform for Sustainable Fashion Training of this trend which is growing, slowly but strongly, in the market today. She has taught courses, workshops and awareness talks for RTVE, Radio, Fashion associations, as well as in the environmental sector or in Schools and Universities, as IED, within and outside Spain, aiming to create alternatives when we produce and consume textiles, because only if we expand our perspective and vision we’ll be able to provide truly innovative solutions to the challenges we are facing in this industry.

IED – Istituto Europeo di Design presented the exhibition “Young. Creatives. At Work.” at the Beirut Design Week 2015 with the participation of some of the best lebanese IED Students and Alumni. The Exhibition investigated the relation between: Design and Business – Design and Social and Local improvement – Design and Technology.
