The Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin chooses Lamborghini for the thesis project of the Transportation Design Course (a.a. 2017/18) students. Last November, at the headquarters of Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the graduates received the brief to work on: Gandini’s revolution. In the Sixties and Seventies, the hand of designer Marcello Gandini gave life to two models for Lamborghini (Miura and Countach) that changed the way of conceiving cars. Fifty years later, the IED young designers were asked to imagine a new model that, like its forbear, could be a breaking point and the beginning of a new stylistic course at the same time.

The 38 students started working on the project proposals, first individually, then divided into small groups made of 3/4 people. The design is in full development under the watchful eye of IED teachers and under the supervision of Manuele Amprimo, ex-student IED Turin, today Chief Interior Designer Lamborghini. Simulating the design process of a Style Center, students are called to give concrete answers to the needs of a real client, and the work involves multiple steps. After the mid-term review with the students that took place in IED on May 11th, there will be a final review to end with the thesis’ discussion on July 6th.

The projects developed in collaboration with Lamborghini are made by: Filippo Beccastrini, Prashant Bhavsar Jugal (India), Andrea Canzi, Desiree Casano, Pietro Castiglioni, Thomas Cerato (Switzerland), Prithvi Chauhan (India), Matteo Crispino, Lorenzo Crosa, Gabriele Cuccu, Gennaro Di Lorenzo, Savio Lee Domenico (Argentine), Amedeo D’Oro, Elizabeth Kozlova (Cyprus), Bao Lian Jian (China), Yanhao Liu (China), Riccardo Miletto, Giovanni Moglia, Nicolas Molina Sarmiento (Colombia), Andrea Napione, Dana Odesser (Israel), Davide Penno, Mirko Pocobello, Matteo Prola, Pietro Salza, Isaia Scivoletto, Valentina Sclafani, Giorgio Strada, Frederic Tomasini (Switzerland), Emanuele Tomassorri, Dumitru Topada, Ivan Turturici, Hyunjun Uhm (South Korea), Sundhar Vadivelan Shyam (India), Francesca Vesprini, Minhang Wang (China), Zikun Xiong (China), Chonggjian Xu (China), graduates of the Course in Transportation Design a.a. 2017/18 IED Turin.

The Course in Transportation Design IED Turin is coordinated by Michele Albera, under the supervision of Luca Borgogno, IED Mobility Lab Coordinator, Design Director Automobili Pininfarina.
