IED Alumni: Vasilena Hadzhivulcheva

Before joining IED Milano, Vasilena expected a more theory-based, conventional institute that had some practical projects. Instead, she was pleasantly surprised when she experienced IED’s learning by doing approach that allowed her to work on projects where she could develop her own ideas starting from scratch and thus learning how to develop real working business plans. “Working on projects” she confesses “was always very inspiring for me and the professors have always been extremely motivating and helping us to do our best”.

The Undergraduate course in Fashion Marketing & Communication was a real life-changing experience for Vasilena. Before the course, in fact, she didn’t have almost any experience in the fashion field. After graduating, however, she had the chance to work in big corporations, modern contemporary brands, travel to London & Paris during fashion weeks, see the core of the industry, meeting worldwide designers like Christopher Bailey, buyers, editors from Vogue and photographers.

Currently, she is a Wholesale Sales Assistant at Burberry. “I am working with buyers from worldwide department stores like Galleries Lafayette, La Rinascente, Harrods, Net-a-Porter, to small boutiques that purchase products from the brand”.

Vasilena’s advice for future students is to “take the most of every class, project and small task you are assigned, you don’t know how much this will help you in future and of course, enjoy every moment during your course because for me those in IED were the best 3 years of my life and they just flew away”.
