IED at Beirut Design Week 2018

IED – Istituto Europeo di Design is once again at Beirut Design Week supporting the local design community.

IED Madrid Director Dario Assante will engage in a conversation with IED Alumnus and BDW Creative Director Ghassan Salameh on the links between Design and Business giving the audience hints and tips on how to start a career in design or how to launch a successful design studio/company.

A conversation between Dario Assante – Architect, Designer and IED Madrid Director and Ghassan Salameh, Designer, BDW Creative Director and IED Alumnus. The conversation will try to answer to a list of questions such as:

How young designers can launch their own business? What tools are currently available in an ever changing market? Is design education enough to succeed?

How well established companies are looking at design methodology and design thinking  to be more competitive in a complex and global market? How designers can find disruptive ways to face challenges and to solve customer pains?

Registration is compulsory. 

Dario Assante,

As an architect he has collaborated on diverse architectural studies in Italy, Portugal and Spain, conducting projects in different environments from building to urban planning. In 2003, he began collaborating with the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, where he has been a professor and Academic Coordinator for Interior Design. From 2007 till 2015 was head of IED Master Madrid , the postgraduate school of IED Madrid which launched the Masters of Design and Innovation promoting a different approach to the link between design education and business. In 2016 he has been nominated director of  IED Madrid in order to provide his experience in management, coordinating teams of experts in education and designing strategies .

Ghassan Salameh

As an interdisciplinary conceptual and solution oriented designer, his projects occupy an in-between space where product design and conceptual art meet. After acquiring a European Design Labs Masters degree from IED Madrid, Ghassan Salameh set up his studio in Beirut to focus on light, furniture and object designs, gaining from an accumulated experience in print and digital graphics, product design, set design, web and digital interactive design. He is the creative director of Beirut Design Week 2018.

Istituto Cervantes is the institution that Spain created in 1991 in order to teach and promote Spanish language and to spread Spanish culture and the one of the Spanish-speaking countries. Instituto Cervantes is placed in four continents with more than 70 centers. The work of the institut is led by representatives of the Spanish and Hispanic-American academic, cultural and literary world.
