IED for Pitti 94: the future begins at Palazzo Davanzati
First IED designed collection on display
From the 12th to the 17th of June Museo della Casa Fiorentina Antica will be hosting EcoEgo, a collection designed and produced by the eight locations of Istituto Europeo di Design using sustainable and recycled fabrics – under the supervision of the designer Tiziano Guardini.
EcoEgo will open on Tuesday 12th of June at 3.30 p.m. (press preview at 2.30) and will be hosted entirely on the first floor of Palazzo Davanzati in the majestic rooms of the 14th century residence: Sala Madornale, Sala dei Pappagalli, known for its patterned tapestries on the walls, Studiolo and Sala dei Pavoni, which is completely frescoed.
Livia Firth and Tiziano Guardini inspired IED students, guiding them in the development of their capsule collections: the project was launched in January 2018, at the same time as the last edition of Pitti Immagine, with an ‘inspirational brief’ and a week of meetings dedicated to sustainable fashion in collaboration with also Italian companies chosen for their environmentally-friendly production processes. These included Ecoalf, Thermore, Isko, Texmoda, Lampa, Orange Fiber, Essent’ial, Showmates/Idee Partners, Arti 21, Vegea, Nemanti, Fulgar, Santoni, Spazio 2.0 and Ecopell 2000. The same brands provided the fabrics, raw materials and expertise required for the creation of the prototypes.
Palazzo Davanzati will also be the venue, from 2.30 to 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday June 13, of a live performance – RenaisSense – the renaissance of the senses. The performance will involve the five senses with smells, actions, music and fabrics stimulating the audience’s senses, bringing back ancestral memories and the smells of craft workshops.
