International Award for Illustration, won by the alumnus Sarah Mazzetti

She stood out among 2091 under 35 candidates – coming from 62 countries – and won the 10th edition of the International Illustration Award – Bologna Children’s Book Fair – Fundación SM.

She is Sarah Mazzetti, born in Bologna in 1985, former student of Illustration and Animation and teacher at IED Milano. The author – who works internationally and collaborates, among the others, with The New York Times, The New Yorker, Die Zeit, La Repubblica and The Guardian – triumphed in the contest, emerging with her first children’s comic, I Gioielli di Elsa, among a total of 14,505 tables analysed by the jury of experts.

For Sarah Mazzetti this is not the first important award: actually, it comes after a Golden Medal of the New York Society of Illustrators , the Golden Pen of Belgrade, a YCN Award and the Illustri Prize. I Gioielli di Elsa has already obtained the Boscarato Award for best children’s book at the Treviso Comic Book Festival, as well as the Best Short Story Award at Lucca Comics. In addition to working as a freelancer, Sarah has taught and held workshops at the IED seats of Milan and Turin and at the SUPSI School in Lugano; she also co-founded the self-production label Teiera.
