New edition of WHY Graphic Design Festival
WHY Graphic Design Festival returns to Florence with its 3rd edition on November 8, 9 and 10 at The Student Hotel.
With an intensive weekend program of workshops, talks, portfolio reviews, presentations, discussions, design market and exhibitions, WHY festival aims to bring together students from all over the world, emerging designers and professionals to discuss their ideas, projects, concerns, thoughts and experiences. The festival is organized by a group of teachers and students of visual communication including Laura Ottina and Laura Moretti of IED Firenze.

Portfolio review for illustrators
WHY Festival invites you to a free portfolio review with illustrator Simone Massoni. The portfolio review offers frank, unbiased feedback, recommending practical ways to build on your strengths and existing body of work.

Adv Italy – Where does contemporary aesthetics come from?
Almost a year ago, former IED students Marco Peluso, Mattia Rapparini and Massimo Paoloni created ADV Italy with the aim of building a community in the field of communication. They are committed to become a reference point for students and professionals who, like them, want to explore the world of advertising.

kidstudio – JeJeJeJe: Starred food and graphic design
IED teachers and founders of kidstudio Marco Innocenti and Luca Parenti will give a talk on graphic design for high-end, starred restaurants. In particular, they will showcase their projects for 2 clients, a starred restaurant in Geneva and one in Spain in San Sebastian.

Italians do it better: the renaissance of Italian type design
Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini will talk about his work as type designer and about Italiantype, the new project by the digital type foundry Zetafonts. Italiantype is a collection of new typefaces designed by young and upcoming Italian designers. The project is a result of Cosimo’s work as founder and coordinator of the specialization course in Typography and Calligraphy – The Font Design at IED Firenze.
All festival talks and events are free with the exception of workshops.
