Where is where? Weaving Heterotopias

From January 17th to February 2nd 2020 – at SPARC* Spazio Arte Contemporanea, Venezia – will take place Where is Where? Weaving Heterotopias, collective exhibition curated by Andrea Pastore, Reem Marji, Siddhi Shailendra and Yunmi Cho, graduating students of Curatorial Practice Masters at IED Venezia.

Reflecting on the idea of Heterotopia proposed by the French philosopher Michel Foucault in his 1967 essay ‘Des Espace Autres’, the exhibition talks about spaces that are linked to the existing but are still distinct from them and presents multiple narratives mirroring the digital, personal, social and past spaces. The exhibition includes 10 artworks by 8 contemporary international artists (Areej Huniti & Eliza Goldox, Magda Magdy & Shannon Sea, Margherita Moscardini, Orijit Sen, Rourou Ye, Wagner Malta Tavares) and includes drawings, posters, videos, installations, and archival materials such as photographs, prints, etc. In the four rooms of the exhibition space, the works of art present themselves as territories, either built or imagined, as “worlds within worlds”

Produced by IED Istituto Europeo di Design, it has been realized in collaboration with Venice Art Factory.
