Delve deep into the present and future relationships between spatial design and technology from a humanist perspective and a design methodology

The Official Master's Degree in Spatial and Digital Environments Design focuses on the design of commercial, educational, work or health spaces, hybridizing the physical and digital dimensions.

In tune with the transformations derived from the impact of digital technologies on our lifestyles, this program responds to the growing demand for professionals capable of designing not only tangible spaces, but also virtual or augmented reality ones.

Emphasizing the cultural dimension, the user experience, sustainability and a profoundly humanistic view of technology, this is one of the few master's degrees in Spain, and the only one in Catalonia, on interior design applied to physical and/or digital environments.

Information to decide

A unique specialization in the field of spatial design, since it addresses the physical dimension of the project together with the development of virtual proposals, augmented reality or linked to the size of the metaverse.

The program combines theory and practice through experimentation and the analysis of real cases, interventions by experts or debates. It also includes activities outside the classroom and business practices.

The contents are developed in different learning modules:

The first one focuses on the analysis, contextualization and presentation of design from different transversal approaches (sociological, anthropological, ethical, semiotic, symbolic, aesthetic, political and normative) with the user experience at the centre of reflection.

The second module delves into the structure and parts of the physical and digital space, as well as into the specific tools for planning and designing interiors and exteriors for commercial, educational, work and health environments.

The third module proposes bringing design practice closer to the real world. Students will participate in the creation of new projects in collaboration with organizations and companies that are working in this direction and in the hybridization of the real and digital dimensions of the interior space.

The fourth module is aimed at work experience in studios, companies or institutions, which will allow you to develop and apply all your acquired skills.

For its part, the fifth module is devoted to the Final Master's Project, approached from critical, original and rigorous research to developing all the skills you have acquired independently and autonomously.

It is aimed at graduates and graduates in Design, Architecture, Fine Arts or in different humanities disciplines who want to specialize in interior design from this double physical/digital perspective.

This master's degree offers a wide range of possibilities in professional practice. From large, private or public companies, to start-ups, what you have learned can be applied to developing projects, working in marketing departments, the field of training, etc.

The content of this master's degree responds directly to the demands of the world of work through the acquisition of skills adapted to emerging social realities and needs.

Throughout the program of your training, you will address the design of physical and digital spaces by undertaking projects, analysis and experimentation and looking at case studies; managing methodologies and specific software programs, visiting realities in the sector, working in real companies and presenting a final project.

Hand in hand with a teaching team of active professionals, you will explore the important impact of interior design on the wellbeing of people and its relationship with culture, technology and sustainability.

All of this at IED Barcelona, one of the national and international benchmarks in design education, as a member of a vibrant, creative, multidisciplinary and international community. And in the city of Barcelona, a European benchmark in design, architecture and interior design.
