Learn how to interpret relationships between individuals, material space and digital space. Enjoy yourself while experimenting and contaminating visual codes and new expressive forms: the Interior Design programme at IED Cagliari is all about this

The three-year programme in Interior Design at IED Cagliari will be a great opportunity for you to learn how to design residential and community environments, as well as the interiors of social, cultural, educational, healthcare and hospitality areas, but also town planning facilities, events, exhibitions and museums. All of these settings will provide the inspiration for new visions, concepts and visual forms of expression for a better understanding of the close relationship between the individual and space, and between society and the environment.

The strong multidisciplinary approach of this programme will show you how important Interior Designers are at a time in history when private and public spaces are constantly evolving as a result of a contamination of codes and tools that look fluid and rigid at the same time.

After the course, a First Level Academic Diploma is issued. It is recognised by MUR - Italian Ministry of University and Research - and has the same legal value of a Bachelor’s Degree.

Information to decide

Turn experimentation into your everyday language. Just try to think of multiple perspectives connecting people and places, with your creative mind shifting from space analysis to lifestyle creation. It’s not just a sign: just bring your personal touch and make it materialize into inspirational concepts and ideas telling of a new way of experiencing contemporary life.

The three-year programme in Interior Design at IED Cagliari covers a wide range of cultural and project skills, with a focus on both traditional and digital design tools. You will specifically explore design, architecture, photography, sociology, and anthropology, which are all key disciplines for understanding, predicting, and interpreting human behaviour.

Course objectives include developing project design thinking skills that will prepare you for contemporary design challenges grounded in ethical, social, and sustainability values. In three years you will learn how to work within the Italian Design System, a network that connects designers, manufacturers and other players in the industry.

Your learning experience will be full of opportunities for testing your skills in real projects working with different companies and cultural institutions. You will give life to innovative ideas for fittings, exhibitions, temporary spaces, furniture and artefacts, providing a new perspective where architecture and design are regarded as a way to communicate with pop culture.

The Interior Design programme at IED Cagliari is the best choice if you have an interest in interior design with a focus on how people, functionality and comfort relate to each other. This is your best option if you are a curious person looking to embrace multiple ideas and translate everything into hands-on projects and experiences.

The course offers new insights to all those who want to investigate how space exploration with lights, furnishings, colours, fabrics, materials on the one hand, and human research on the other hand, are mutually interconnected. We do not require any special prerequisites to access the course other than curiosity, this being a key factor for every professional Interior Designer.

This programme offers a variety of career opportunities and prospects that range from being an Interior Designer to embracing many other roles: Hospitality Designer, Exhibit Designer, Retail Designer.

One of the reasons to opt for the three-year Interior Design programme at IED Cagliari is certainly the importance of exploring and researching. This is indeed a very lab-based programme: you will be working on a wide variety of projects, ranging across traditional learning methods and digital tools.

The city of Cagliari is a strategic location where you can practice your project design method, while interacting with a community of strong cultural, social and professional background and a well-known tradition of craftsmanship. Quite simply, you will be able to work in a multidisciplinary environment making full use of local resources available in this area.

One of the key words of your training will be sustainability: you will carry out projects complying with the best production practices using natural, renewable materials and without wasting energy resources, with full respect of work ethics and looking to a future where a change of mindset is the main concern.
