Information to decide

With this programme you will learn the whole process of making a fashion collection, from model creation to the fashion show

The Fashion Design degree programme at IED Roma has been designed to help you develop skills and knowledge about different types of fashion collections (women’s, men’s, textiles, accessories), and also prototyping. Starting from the basics, you will learn the techniques of pattern making and tailoring, as well as materials technology and their processing. You will then move on to the techniques of drawing and fashion illustration, until you get to working on the actual production process of garments and accessories.

You will have the opportunity to build up a cultural and academic background for your future career development. We will be analysing the language of fashion from a number of perspectives: first of all as a historical, artistic and social phenomenon, and as a flow of trends and signs. But most importantly, as a creative and visual form of communication and as an economic system, where supply chains, marketing and communication processes are the driving forces. You will develop a complete vision of the product with an emphasis on graphic and technical knowledge, using specialized software for 3D textiles and clothing.

The Fashion Design degree programme at IED Roma aims to provide you with everything you need to design a fashion and accessory collection with original and creative style, fine-tuned to perfectly meet market needs. Then, with the final dissertation project you will be given the opportunity to create your own collection, practising your design skills and expressing all your creativeness and fashion design personality.

The Fashion Design degree programme at IED Roma is for students like you who want to use their creativity to make their own collection of clothes and accessories. This is definitely your best option if you want to make of fashion a stage where you can show off your personality and give voice to your ideas, and keep learning new things and using new tools.

No matter what your background is, over the three years with us you will learn about the method and be able to practice a variety of skills. These will range from manual work through drawing, pattern making and tailoring, to academic subjects, computer programmes and 3D software applications that will open up a world of unexplored fields and opportunities.

Other than your previous skills and background, it will be important for you to stay on top of your coursework and approach all things with dedication and commitment. Your passion will be the key to achieving great results and overcoming any difficulties, while discipline will be essential to carry out your projects well within the set limits. Indeed, the Fashion Design degree programme at IED Roma will provide you with the necessary skills to fully achieve your goals. And with the precious support of your lecturers, you will also develop a deep awareness of your strengths and a better understanding of how to go beyond your limits.
