Explore the many different opportunities that this profession has to offer in a city with a wealth of inspiration and experiences connected with images and art. This is actually what the Photography Undergraduate Programme at IED Torino has in store for you

The Photography Undergraduate Programme at IED Torino will provide you with a solid and multidisciplinary background, through in-depth knowledge of Art History, Photography, Film and Applied Arts, as well as contemporary media and communication. You will learn how to use light, and the best tools available, depending on the nature of your photographic projects and applications. Year after year, you will become more familiar with the software tools used to process images and videos, achieving consistent and professional results
Over the three years, all the photographers and the projects that we will work with will give you an insight into the world of photography as you discover more about the contemporary applications of this exciting language: think about social photography, reportage, documentation photography, new media and digital photography, and more traditional applications such as analogue darkroom photography, still life in photo studio, professional fashion photography and publishing, just to name a few.

After the course, a First Level Academic Diploma is issued. It is recognised by MUR - Italian Ministry of University and Research - and has the same legal value of a Bachelor’s Degree.

Information to decide

Come and discover how pictures can be used as a combination of letters and symbols to tell stories and create imagery. Learn how to use technical tools - like special equipment - combined with analytical methods to make storytelling more fluid and enjoyable for the reader. Open up with curiosity to the latest innovations and ideas in the industry. Make research a key step in your creative process: a critical factor in achieving consistent, structured results with great quality work.

Over the three years of your Photography degree programme at IED Torino you will learn how to use the equipment correctly, working with specific lighting and shooting techniques, outdoors and also inside the darkroom. In addition, You will learn the theory and practice of every step involved in the production process: lighting, shooting, set management, post-production, and image presentation.
You will also learn how to use photography as a shooting machine. Indeed, in many areas of work such as reportage, shooting sets and video clips, photographers can also be creators of motion pictures and producers of video materials.

You will be introduced to the tools and methods of the profession, but other than that you will learn how to manage your business, liaise with customers, develop market strategies and cover the different areas of photography where you can work.

The aim of the Photography degree programme at IED Torino is to provide training on how to translate abstract concepts into visual forms. Indeed, the art of photography involves continuous contamination between technical processes and emotional feelings that photographers want to convey through visual communication.

Other than learning about the many different genres of photography, including commercial, print publishing and artistic works, the programme will also be covering projects, guided tours, workshops and meetings with expert photographers. The focus is very much on contemporary trends and recent developments in the industry, especially self-publishing and web content development.

The Photography degree programme at IED Torino is designed for anyone like you who has a strong passion about photography. If you enjoy the idea of creating a new image, if your passion is going out looking for the best light setting to take that picture you've had in mind for a while, if you never give up trying and trying again to get the perfect shot, this programme is definitely the best for you.
Whatever your educational background is, the Photography degree programme at IED Torino does not require any special prerequisites as much as your curiosity about a dynamic business that has communication as its main focus.
Over the three years of study, you will learn how to translate a concept, an idea, a dream or a story into a visual image. Photography and video recording are now activities within everyone's reach as a result of widespread use of digital tools. Becoming a photographer, however, does not simply mean being able to use the tools. Rather, it involves understanding a multiform art where different aspects are involved. As a photographer you will be able to take this perspective in your own photographic production, creating continuous interaction with today's world and the latest market trends in the industry. The Photography degree programme at IED Torino will give you an insight into the multiple forms of the profession, helping you to understand the many different needs arising in the world of photography.
