In-person event

A week to look at Rome with new eyes and try to capture the seeds of its future.

Some 400 young IED Roma creatives will be put to the test, as they explore and study the Eternal City, its contours, contrasts, and resources with the guidance of 16 artists. Through photography and visual arts, they will attempt to imagine the city that will be, beyond the legacy of its past and the difficulties of the present.

This is the theme of the 15th edition of IED Factory: an annual event that brings together second-year students from all departments for interdisciplinary workshops led by outstanding curators. This year IED Factory will be the first public event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Rome seat. It will begin with the Lecture “Roma, l'ombra e la grazia. Anatomia di una città senza confini”, curated by Nicola Lagioia, writer and director of the Turin International Book Fair.

On Wednesday, 5 April at 7 p.m., MAXXI - National museum of 21st-century arts, will showcase the results of the collaboration between curators and students in the exhibition “Rome in 50 years”. As part of this unprecedented version of the project, all artists have placed a strong emphasis on visual and territorial narratives. Together with the students, the following people will develop visions of Rome of the future, with a view to developing new relationships among disciplines, languages, and individuals: Ilaria Magliocchetti Lombi, Muna Mussie, Massimo Siragusa, Christian Raimo, Alessandro Imbriaco, Valentina Vannicola, Moira Ricci, Alessio Pellicoro, Viola Pantano, Giorgio Di Noto, Luca Capuano, Ropocoop, Daniele Villa Zorn, Carmelo Baglivo, Luis Do Rosario, Gilles Raynaldy.
