Two projects by IED Milano where selected for the Rometti 2022 Prize

As many as two IED projects made it to the finals of the historic Umbria-based manufacturer's international competition reserved for students attending Art and Design Academies around the world. The aim here is to promote innovation and originality of ceramic art, bringing in young talents.

Out of over sixty submissions, only six projects were selected by the Jury of the Rometti 2022 Prize, consisting of experts and headed by world famous designer Ugo La Pietra. Among the products that made it to the finals are two that were developed by students from IED Milano: Deduzione, a vase by Martino Chiesa, Elettra Sarno, Marco Spataro; and also Bon-Bom, a vase by Tomas Bongermino, in his second year of Interior Design, awarded third place.

In addition to a cash prize, the winners will also have the opportunity to exhibit their prototype in the permanent section of the Rometti Ceramics Museum. For all of them there is also the possibility - as often was the case with previous exhibitions - that their project will be put into production by the factory. This will clearly provide them with an important opportunity for visibility and a start into professional life.

The young creatives also had the unique experience of an internship at Rometti last July, where they were able to give shape to their ideas, under the supervision of experienced craftsmen. After all, this is not the first time that Ceramiche Rometti has provided support to young talented designers who later became stars, like Corrado Cagli and Leoncillo Leonardi. This exchange between art and design is strongly supported by Owner Massimo Monini and Art Director Jean Christophe Clair, with a view to bringing together Rometti's traditional and unique expertise with the innovation and originality of contemporary artistic and design influences.
