IED takes part of the project CREATE, an initiative aiming to produce learning materiales in order to design zero-waste fashion capsule collections

IED Spain participates in the project CREATE co-funded by the European Union, an initiative whose purpose is to produce learning materials and train people for unlocking the potential of female entrepreneurship to create inclusive employment opportunities for marginalized groups.

Through the production of sustainable and zero-waste fashion capsule collections, the project will foster women’s ability to deal with change, act with critical and responsible stance and motivate them in taking part in lifelong learning possibilities.

Less than 1 % of used clothing is recycled into new garments, estimates the Ellen MacArthur Foundation adding that every year some USD 500 billion in value is lost due to clothing that is barely worn, not donated, or recycled. That is the reason why the CREATE consortium wants to mobilize fashion as a force for inclusion and prosperity for all involved in the industry and its value chains. Its expertise in innovation and design will allow them to learn more about women's empowerment and create a new way to tackle waste in the fashion industry while offering new upskilling possibilities to the participant.

Along with IED Spain, there are other 4 partners participating in this project: We Love You Communication, based in Veinge, Sweden; World Fair Trade Organization Europe, based in Brussels, Belgium; Nest Social Cooperative Enterprise, based in Attiki, Greece; FRAMEWORK Associazione Culturale, based in Turin, Italy.

CREATE project meeting in Madrid

The 19th of October the CREATE project partners gathered in Madrid to present the Educators’ Handbook, a tool designed to include all the elements and information needed by present and, more importantly, future promoters to run the program.

The handbook illustrates and details the competences and abilities educators should possess to run the CREATE programme. The content can be downloaded HERE
