Light Identities: 'TES' is the project selected as the best one among the 10 Product Design dissertations carried out as part of a partnership with the well-known Made in Italy brand

FontanaArte's CEO Marco Pozzo and Art Director Francesco Librizzi were the ones to award IED recent graduates Kim Sungkoon, Filippo Salis, and Marianna D'Antimo at the 'Identità Golose' showroom, within the Brera Design District of Fuorisalone. These three young designers are the creators of the TES project, which was selected by the historic Made in Italy brand as the best submission among the 10 lamp collections created as part of a dissertation project on Light Identities, which was co-lead by IED Milano and FontanaArte in the year 2020/21.

The TES collection (on display at Supersalone in Rho Fiera, as part of The Lost Graduation Show, along with two other projects for FontanaArte, Alea and Stilo) is inspired by photographic sets to create fascinating light and shadow effects setting the stage for moments of everyday life. A special smart diffuser filters light and is cleaved with it, thus switching to a different set in no time. All this reflects formal research that, while sticking to FontanaArte's composite design pattern, brings together simple forms and technology, making luxury hotel interiors (as well as domestic ones) more charming with a stage presence.

Kim, Filippo and Marianna have created four versions: table-top, which attracts curiosity with its simple yet complex shapes where a leather cord rotates to adjust the light intensity, while touching the central rod turns the smart diffuser on and off. The floor lamp features the same design as the table lamp, with the user physically interacting with it. The wall light is the perfect solution for immediate set changes with its compact size and adaptability. Finally, a pendant installation is also available, accommodating different heights to meet the most diverse requirements in hospitality and domestic settings: the diffuser can be swivelled to frame the perfect set.
