IED Alumni Desk Show
Behind the Scenes of Creative Professions
IED Alumni Desk Show is a vidcast created to give a voice to the diverse protagonists of creative work, as well as to authoritative figures who are redefining the ways we create, collaborate, and design.
Profound changes are transforming how we live and create. Today, more than ever, the real question is not ‘what to design,’ but rather ‘what not to design,’ adopting an approach that must— and aspires to—be guided by a plural form of intelligence.
We bring to the table hybrid, empathetic, and innovative creatives who are reshaping how to design a better life on a planet with finite resources and languages still to be fully interpreted.
Produced in collaboration with Eezee, an organization that brings together various IED Alumni and creatives from different backgrounds, the IED Alumni Desk Show is a series that allows us to highlight emerging professions and new hybridizations within the field.
Each live recording is also an event hosted at the IED campuses in Milan and Turin, open to all and followed by a Cocktail & DJ Set.
Heritage Reloaded
This episode explores how a brand’s legacy can engage in dialogue with artificial intelligence.
It is a journey in which communities and creations converge around shared values, revealing how culture, depth, and meaningful creativity have become the most authentic expression of contemporary luxury.
Be more animal to design like a human
Post-Anthropocentric Design Practices
What happens when we attempt to design not solely with humans in mind, but by looking at the world through different eyes?
Fette di salame sugli occhi
When pursuing a career in the creative field today, one often begins with a conviction, stumbles, and then changes direction.
It is a journey in which one comes to realize that sometimes all it takes is adopting a different point of view to achieve an unexpected—and ultimately better—result.

IED Industry Engagement, Career & Alumni
The ongoing relationship with the IED Alumni community — a network of over 100,000 professionals living and working across the globe — provides a privileged and continuous vantage point on the evolution of design professions.
Classroom learning, combined with the opportunity to work on real projects alongside business industries, prepares students for a genuine project‑based culture. The IED Career Office supports them in their transition into the professional world, opening new opportunities that, over time, turn into continuous professional and project‑based exchanges even after graduation, within the Alumni community.
‘From this privileged perspective, the OSSERVATORIO project on creative professions was conceived,’ says Clelia Bergna, Head of the Department.
As an Observatory, we are able to collect specific data and analyse a wide range of information: from the types of profiles sought by companies to emerging professions, including growth trends and new hybridizations within the sector. Identifying the needs of both the corporate world and young professionals allows us to maintain an ongoing reflection on the labour market and the competencies required across industries and geographical areas.
We felt it was important to address these topics together with their key players, promoting thinking and design — as is the core mission of our Industry Engagement Career and Alumni Department of the IED Group."
Project partners
We want to share what it means to work in creative fields today and, above all… how to explain our job to our aunts!” jokes Vincenzo Fabiano, Motion Artist, IED lecturer, and co‑founder of the video factory EEZEE and of DESK, the platform that brings together designers, filmmakers, creatives, and communication professionals, including several IED Alumni. “DESK was created as both a physical and project‑based space to foster connections, exchanges, and new possibilities. We started with a conversation right in our workspace and then realized it could be shared, because it offers a live perspective from the protagonists of the creative sector and on how these professions are evolving."

The set design of the IED Alumni Desk Show video podcast is created with the contribution of Pointhouse, an Italian design brand that has been exploring the relationship between function, form, and space for over thirty years.
Rooted in the tradition of Made in Italy, Pointhouse combines technological innovation, material research, and artisanal attention to detail to create essential, versatile, and durable furnishings.
Sustainability and environmental responsibility guide every choice made by the company, from the use of renewable materials to the reduction of production impact, transforming design into a concrete commitment toward the future.
In this way, Pointhouse expresses a vision in which design, people, and sustainability coexist to enhance spaces and everyday experience.

Sofismi is a Milan‑based company founded in 2017, specializing in the selection and distribution of Italian and international craft beers.
The project stems from the idea that every brewery has a story and identity worth telling; for this reason, we collaborate with Italian and international producers united by a strong creative imprint, promoting them through distribution projects, events, and communication.
The visual identity of a beer, the care devoted to its packaging, and the narrative coherence of a brand are crucial elements of our work. This is why we feel particularly aligned with the IED community, and we are pleased to contribute to the Desk Show project by bringing a product that combines craftsmanship, aesthetics, and contemporary beer culture.
