Inside the Biennale Tecnologia, a dialogue to explore how immersive technologies are redefining the concept of movement between opportunities, risks, and new scenarios
During the Biennale Tecnologia, on Sunday, April 19 at 4:00 PM, at the Sala Mappamondi of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino, the event ”Il metaverso: mobilità o immobilità?” will take place: a dialogue dedicated to exploring how immersive technologies are redefining the very concept of movement.
The metaverse opens up new ways of “moving while standing still”: simulated training, co-design, museums, and digital cities. The discussion will bring together concrete case studies (including MAUTO) with opportunities and risks: digital twins, HMI, avatars and AI, but also lock-in effects, energy consumption, inequalities, and data governance. The goal is to understand when immersive experiences enable real mobility, generating public value and sustainability.
Among the speakers is Wouter Haspeslagh, Program Lead of the Master in Mobility Design at IED Torino, actively engaged in the development of new design visions related to contemporary mobility.
Joining him is Benedetto Camerana, architect and landscape designer, President of Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile di Torino, of the Consorzio Lingotto, and of the De Sono association, long involved in the dialogue between architecture, culture, and public space.
Will also take part Guido D’Arezzo, Business Developer for the Italian market at DeuSens Hyperexperience, a creative studio specialized in immersive experiences, XR, and artificial intelligence, with extensive experience in supporting companies and institutions in the adoption of immersive technologies for training and communication.
The dialogue will be moderated by Luca De Biase, columnist for Il Sole 24 Ore, author and voice on Rai Radio 3, university lecturer, and director of the research center Imminent, as well as author of numerous essays on the future of media and innovation.
Admission is free, subject to availability.
