IED Milano hosts the closing event of Sounding Images, Screening Sounds, featuring the opening of the installation of selected works developed during After Evidence, a workshop created in collaboration with LABANOF–MUSA and led by Erik Kessels.
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 5:30 PM, IED Milano will host the opening of After Evidence: from forensic purpose to public resonance, the physical and installation-based presentation of selected works developed during the workshop created in collaboration with LABANOF-MUSA and led by Erik Kessels.
The workshop, part of the international project Sounding Images, Screening Sounds, SISS, involved Bachelor of Arts students and alumni, together with second-year Master of Arts students, in a research process focused on the archive as living material.
Starting from the visual archive of LABANOF, Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology and Odontology, and the CAL, Labanof Anthropological Collection, participants worked with complex scientific materials, including photographs, X-rays, CT scans and microscopic studies. Under the guidance of Erik Kessels, an artist and creative director widely recognized for his work with archival imagery, these materials were reinterpreted through visual and design practices, opening up new possibilities for presentation and interpretation within a museum context.
After Evidence becomes a meeting point between medico-legal research, artistic practice and exhibition design: a shift from scientific evidence to public resonance, where images become tools for storytelling, questioning and collective reflection.
The event on May 14 will also present the workshop catalogue and the final SISS editorial project, conceived as both a collection and a narrative of the path developed by IED Milano around three archives: Triennale Milano, EMERGENCY and LABANOF.
The evening will end with an aperitif.
The event will take place at IED Milano, via Bezzecca 5.
The exhibition will also be open on May 15 and 16.
