To understand how fashion shapes languages, desires and cultural identities

A talk with Andrea Batilla, expert in communication and marketing strategies and brand storytelling, offering a critical reading of fashion shows and the ongoing transformations within the contemporary fashion system.

Through an analysis of fashion’s visual and narrative codes, the conversation will explore how brands shape identities, imaginaries, and languages capable of reflecting today’s cultural and social changes.

An opportunity to reflect on the role of fashion shows today — between communication, aesthetics, and the construction of desire — while examining the new dynamics shaping the contemporary creative industry.

Andrea Batilla has worked as a designer and textile researcher for some of the most important Made in Italy brands, including Romeo Gigli, Trussardi, Aspesi, Cerruti, Les Copains, and Bottega Veneta. He served for five years as Director of the Fashion School at Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, where he developed a close collaborative relationship with Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia. During that period, he founded the Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda, the first Italian association of fashion schools. In 2017, he wrote the screenplay and supervised the production of the documentary MARCELO BURLON – UNINVITED, directed by Mattia Colombo. He is the author of Instant Moda (Gribaudo), a popular history of fashion from the French Revolution to the present day; L’Alfabeto della Moda (Gribaudo), an analysis of the dynamics of contemporary fashion; and Come Ti Vesti (Mondadori), an essay exploring the historical and cultural meaning of Western dress. He has contributed to publications including Domani, Dust Magazine, Corriere della Sera, Il Post, Linkiesta, and Rivista Studio. Through his Instagram profile, followed by more than 90,000 people, he focuses on fashion education and criticism. Today, he works as a strategic consultant for luxury companies, supporting them in symbolic identity development, strategic planning, and partnership building.
