An open discussion with actor and director Edoardo Leo on the complexity of the contemporary and the role of creativity, between Cinema, Theatre and TV
Contemporary reality is incredibly complex. This phenomenon raises essential questions about how art and, more generally, culture can help us untangle the knots of our society. To what extent does complexity act as a lifesaver against banality and superficiality, prompting us to a greater creative effort?
On 13 May, IED Milano opens its doors for a talk aimed not only at students but also at connoisseurs and those curious about cinema and creative disciplines.
Edoardo Leo will be the protagonist of a Special Lecture, organised by OffiCine-IED and IED Cinema, moderated by Giovanni Ottonello.
The meeting will offer insights into "Complex Realities" and will provide an opportunity to deal with a character who is "complex" in a positive sense, capable of expressing his talent in different roles: actor, director, screenwriter and voice actor.
Edoardo Leo is also active in the board of Una Nessuna Centomila, a foundation against violence against women, and in the trade union Unita, to guarantee fair conditions for entertainment workers.
During the meeting, key moments of his career will be discussed, from his debut on the big screen in 1997 with Cecilia Calvi's La classe non è acqua (Class is not water) to recent films such as Follemente by Paolo Genovese and 30 notti con il mio ex directed by Guido Chiesa. His love for theatre, TV series and his role as director will be explored, including the film Diciotto anni dopo (Eighteen Years Later), where he acted as screenwriter, performer and director.
This free event, by registration and with limited places, is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to study filmmaking in Milan and discover the IED Cinema and its courses.
Followed by a cocktail djset to end the evening in a creative and stimulating way.
