On 8 and 9 November, students from the Master in Design for Virtual Reality and the Master in Interaction Design will participate in the MIRA Digital Arts Festival 2024. They will present the projects ‘Brief Encounters’ and ‘Distorted Reality’ at the MIRA 2024 Gallery from 5.30 pm to 1 am.

‘Distorted Reality’ is an immersive art installation that explores the intersection between digital perception and reality, delving into the complex relationship and coexistence between the beauty of the natural world and the hidden patterns in vast data sets. This installation aims to show how machines see our world, combining the real with the abstract and letting viewers experience the blend of nature and technology.

The installation features multi-layered projections that transform and distort a real environment, using video mapping techniques such as triangular mapping, point cloud animations, and scanning animations.

STUDENTS: Sorana-Marie Cristea, Anita Gabashvili, Noemi Gangi, Ksenia Gecse, Isabelle Gomes Soares, Deniz Günbahar, José Luis Ortiz Sotomayor, Eduardo Romo Schweitzer and Luisa de Carvalho Silveira.

‘Brief Encounters’ explores the transitory and fleeting nature of human connections through the lens of air traffic patterns. Each data point represents a momentary interaction in the vast expanse of the sky. A symphony of fleeting flights and brief encounters that illustrate the beauty and complexity of our fast-paced world.

STUDENTS: Petra Ballerini, Evdokia Charalambous, Aaron Connolly, Pasquale Conte, Sara Pérez Espinosa, Victoria Mercado Luna, Rana Raymond Azzi, Roshini Selvakumar, Ginevra Talli and Geraldine Roberta Velasquez Cadavid.
