On 23, 24 and 25 October, IED Madrid will take part in the 7th edition of Recreo Book Art Fair through GRADA, a collaborative project developed together with the fair by IED Madrid Graphic Design students. The school will also have its own stand at the fair.
GRADA was born from a collaboration between Recreo Art Book Fair in Valencia and IED Madrid. The project is developed through Translab, IED’s transversal and interdisciplinary laboratory, where students work on real-world projects and explore new ways of approaching design from different perspectives.
As part of Recreo, the students have transformed the fair’s auditorium, a space that will host talks and presentations by different studios and designers. The proposal aims to extend the conversation beyond the talks themselves, turning the time between sessions into an opportunity to interact, play and share.
The project is based on a simple idea: understanding recreation as an active pause within the fair experience. A moment to rest, disconnect and enjoy, but also to look again from a different perspective. In this way, GRADA champions fun and play as tools capable of generating new ways of relating to one another and to the space.
The installation incorporates a series of drawings linked to different participants in the fair. Through a scanning system, visitors will be able to access content in which different exhibitors share childhood anecdotes or stories related to Recreo, creating a conversation that continues beyond the stage and connects speakers and audiences in an informal and spontaneous way.
IED Madrid’s participation is complemented by its own stand at the fair, where visitors will be able to discover a selection of IED publications and explore different projects connected to the school’s creative community.
