The IED Roma Design Awards are evolving into IED Roma Design Awards ON STAGE, a new format that transforms the annual event dedicated to the best graduation projects from IED Roma into an experience open to the entire city. Bringing together students, professionals, companies, and creative enthusiasts, the event offers a unique opportunity to discover emerging talent as ideas come to life directly on stage.
On 15 October, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Cinema Troisi will host a morning dedicated to research, innovation, and design. The spotlight will be on the authors of the thirteen projects selected by IED Roma’s internal scientific committee, each of whom will have eight minutes to present their idea, share its development journey, and persuade the jury in attendance.
A simple and accessible format: come when you want, stay as long as you like. Visitors can attend a single presentation or follow the entire programme, discovering the wide range of themes, languages, and approaches represented by the finalist projects.
The selected works span disciplines ranging from design and communication to social innovation and cultural enhancement. Among the partners involved in some of the featured projects are MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome and WeRoad, further demonstrating IED’s ability to build meaningful connections between education and the professional world.
The projects will be assessed by a jury of professionals from the fields of design, culture, communication, and cinema, including Marco De Vincenzo, IED alumnus and Leathergoods Design Director at Givenchy; Angela Rui, curator, design researcher, and IED Global Scientific Lead – Design; Pier Giovanni Adamo, film critic and programmer at Cinema Troisi; and Livia Montagnoli, journalist for Artribune.
At the end of the event, the three winning projects of the IED Roma Design Awards 2026 will be announced and later celebrated on 23 October at La Pelanda, during the opening of Pathos Formulas, part of the ULTRAREF programme of the Romaeuropa Festival.
