The Belgian fashion designer and creative director shares his story in an exclusive dialogue with students. A journey through the elegance of Dior Homme and Berluti, up to his recent multidisciplinary collaborations.
Istituto Europeo di Design hosts one of the most influential names in international menswear: Kris Van Assche. On Tuesday, June 9th, at 5.30 p.m., the Spazio Teatro in via Pompeo Leoni 3 will become the stage for an exclusive dialogue, also open to the external public. The Belgian designer and creative director will share his story in an exceptional talk, engaging directly with a selection of students from the Fashion School.
The meeting – moderated by Umberto Sannino, Head of Fashion School at IED Milano - retraces an extraordinary professional parable, characterized by a constant capacity for evolution and adaptation. Known for his urban and minimalist aesthetic, Van Assche will guide the audience behind the scenes of an important part of the fashion system: from his beginnings as an assistant at Yves Saint Laurent to the launch of his homonymous brand KRISVANASSCHE, up to his historic Creative Directions at Dior Homme (which he led for eleven years, steering the brand towards modernity and blending tailoring with streetwear) and the luxury leather maison Berluti.
The arrival point is his most recent evolution towards a cross-sectional and multidisciplinary design. Following the publication of the monograph Kris Van Assche, 55 collections in 2023, the designer has indeed expanded his artistic horizons: from incursions into artistic home decor with the Belgian company Serax and the Parisian gallery Laffanour Downtown, to recent global sportswear collaborations with the sustainable brand ANTAZERO (2025) and the capsule collection with Fred Perry launched in early 2026.
The event is part of the cycle of meetings – talks and studio visits - through which IED Milano connects its students with the protagonists of the global creative scene, offering a moment of lucid reflection on the present and future of fashion.
