IED Barcelona is once again participating in the “Òh!pera. Newly created micro-operas” project, designing the sets, costumes, projections and lighting for the play Ikària.
The opera production — co-created by Product, Interior, Fashion and Graphic Design students in collaboration with Berta Prieto (Stage Director), Ana Pazos (Librettist), and Ariadna Alsina (Composer), under the direction of Àlex Ollé — will be presented to the public on 25, 26 and 27 July at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, as part of the Grec Festival of Barcelona.
“Òh!pera. Newly created micro-operas” is an initiative promoted by the Gran Teatre del Liceu and Barcelona City Council’s Department of Tourism and Creative Industries through Disseny Hub Barcelona.
The project was born with the desire to open the doors to the world of opera for young creators from diverse artistic fields: composers, playwrights, performers, musicians, and designers. It is a clear commitment to emerging talent and a 21st-century opera that aims to be more accessible, experimental, and forward-looking.
