Open exhibition of the final projects by students of the Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design and the Higher Vocational Training Programme in Pattern Making and Fashion.

On 26 June, IED Madrid Gran Vía will open the doors of its first floor to the general public to showcase the Final Degree Projects of students from the Bachelor's Degree in Higher Artistic Education in Fashion Design,  together with the Final Projects of students from the Higher Vocational Training Programme in Pattern Making and Fashion, presented in a showroom format.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors will be able to explore an open showroom featuring the collections, creative processes and research developed by the students over recent months. The day will conclude with the Avant-défilé 2026, a presentation of the selected proposals that will transform the runway into a space for experimentation, dialogue between disciplines and the exploration of new creative languages.

In addition, during the event, an external jury will select the twelve students whose collections will be featured in the Fashion Show next September as part of the Madrid es Moda programme.

The jury is composed of Xavi García and Franx de Cristal (ACROMATYX), Leticia García (S Moda – El País), David Alarcón (METAL Magazine and ACERO Magazine), Pepa Bueno (Director of Madrid es Moda and Executive Director of ACME), Sergio Álvarez (Director of the Spanish Fashion Academy Foundation) and Federico Antelo (Director of the Fashion School at IED Madrid).

The jury responsible for evaluating the final projects of the Higher Vocational Training Programme in Pattern Making and Fashion is composed of María Elena Calpe, Eva Maldonado, Marta García, Cristina Piña, Juanjo Gómez, Hugo Pinazo and Yulia Yadryshnikova.

This academic year, all Final Degree Projects and Final Projects have been developed under the common theme “Times New”. Within the Fashion School, this framework takes shape through “Times New Hybridisation”, an approach that explores hybridisation as a creative strategy for expanding the boundaries of the discipline.

Times New Hybridisation

At a time of constant transformation, when the boundaries between disciplines are becoming increasingly blurred, creativity finds new possibilities in the encounter between different forms of knowledge, techniques and languages. From this perspective, Times New Hybridisation understands fashion as a space open to exchange, experimentation and the construction of new narratives.

The collections and projects presented in this edition are the result of creative processes that emerge from the spaces in between: between craftsmanship and technology, between tradition and innovation, between different ways of thinking, making and designing. An invitation to move beyond the conventional limits of the discipline and explore new forms of expression.

Through personal and contemporary proposals, students investigate how fashion can become a territory of connection, capable of integrating diverse influences to generate original narratives and open up new possibilities for the future.

More than a trend or a methodology, hybridisation is presented here as an attitude towards design: a way of creating driven by curiosity, the crossing of perspectives and the desire to imagine what does not yet exist.
