To reconnect citizens with the Paseo de Gracia Commercial Hub, the students have proposed the cooperative creation of sustainable, mobile vertical gardens

On 1 March, the projects driven by “Dissenyem comerç” that will be implemented throughout 2023 and 2024 were presented at Disseny Hub Barcelona. This is an initiative led by Barcelona City Council with the aim of boosting the different commercial hubs of the city. Among the proposals is a project developed by IED Barcelona students.

Specifically, IED students have worked on approaches to revitalise the Paseo de Gracia Commercial Hub through the cooperative creation of sustainable, mobile vertical gardens. In this way, they want the public to reconnect with this emblematic space which, until now, has been perceived as an enclave for tourists and consumers of luxury products.

The students participating in the “Dissenyem comerç” programme are: Idoia Ulchur, Rebeca Martell, Lucia Alabart, Marta Marín, Pablo Latorre and Cristina Moretti. They counted on the support of their tutors João Alves, Teacher of Branding and Director of the Momento agency; and Cesc Grau, Events Design and Management Postgraduate Course Programme Leader, and Director of C es C Studio, both coordinated by IED Barcelona’s Management & Design Strategies school.

We will closely follow the implementation of this project.
